- │ │ HELP for GT POWER Host Commands │ │

- │ The following text is a brief overview of the commands available for │
- │ you to execute on the host. The HOST computer refers to this bulletin │
- │ board system since it is hosting your activity as a guest connected │
- │ via modem. If you do not find the following information sufficient │
- │ explanation of the use of each command, then feel free to download │
- │ the latest version of GT Power to read the corresponding documentation. │
- │ You can also leave a M)essage to Sysop asking specific questions and │
- │ I will be happy to explain the operations of this board. │

- A)rea Change Lists directory of available message areas. From
- the resulting menu, you can select a desired
- message area.

- AV) Archive View the contents of an archive prior to
- Viewer Downloading or to decide if it is the archive you
- wish to download. You can also download
- individual components out of the archive.

- B)ulletins Lists a menu of available bulletins to read. To
- read a bulletin, simply type the bulletin number
- shown on the menu.

- C)hange File Lists a menu of file group directories available
- Directory for file download requests. You can then use the
- C)hange Group command to switch to another file
- area group and see the areas for that group.

- CK) Check for The same mail scan that you may perform when answering
- Your Mail "Y" to the check for mail prompt at log in. This
- function will check for your personal mail in the
- areas you have previously joined.

- D)ownload File Requests for the host computer to perform a file
- download to the guest computer. The file will be
- transferred with your default protocol. To change
- your default protocol see option 'Y' (Your
- settings).

- DG) Download Requests for the host computer to perform a file
- & download to the guest computer. The file will be
- Goodbye transferred with your default protocol. When the
- transfer is completed the system will log you off
- and hangup.

- E)nter Message This will create a message entry in the currently
- selected message area. You must identify who the
- message is to be sent to, the subject of the message
- and the security access level. Available security
- access levels are:

- P)rivate message is only readable by addressor,
- addressee, and the SysOp
-
- K)ill public message which can only be
- Protect deleted by the addressor, addressee,
- and the SysOp
-
- N)one public message and has no kill
- protection

- ET) Edit Allows you to edit the list of files that you
- Transfer have tagged for download, you may add or delete
- List files from the list.

- F)ile Describe This will show file descriptions for all files
- that are available in the current logged file
- directory. Entries are listed by file name, size,
- date, and a brief description of the file content.

- G)oodbye This command will disconnect you from the host
- computer. You will be given a chance to [H]ang up
- now, [M]essage to Sysop, or [R]eturn to the BBS.

- H)elp This command will produce the report that you are
- are currently reading.

- I)nquire This command will produce a report of all new
- files that have been uploaded as of a user
- specified date. The default date is your last
- logon date if no date is specified. You may check
- for new files Globally, ie all directories on the
- system, or Locally, only check files in the
- current logged directory.

- K)ill Message This will allow you to delete messages by message
- number in the currently logged message directory.
- If the message is kill protected in the message
- area, you must be the addressor or addressee.

- L)ist Directory Shows the contents of current files directory. This
- is similar to the DOS "DIR" command. It will list
- the file by name, size, and date.

- M)sg to Sysop Allows entry a short private message automatically
- addressed to SYSOP. Only the sysop will be able to
- read your message.

- N)on-Stop This toggles the "non-stop" indication for viewing
- Display all displays. This suppresses the "More ?" prompt
- after transmission of each display page and can be
- useful for those who like to use capture mode to
- save the session in a buffer for later review.

- O)pen Door This will allow you to enter the Doors Facility
- which contains various external programs that will
- execute on the host machine. A menu of available
- door programs will be listed.

- P)age SysOp This will initiate a 30 second beeper on the host
- machine to gain the attention of the Sysop. If
- the SysOp is available, he will place you in
- "chat" mode and you will be able to converse with
- him online.

- Q)uestionaire The questionnaire is necessary for proper
- registration on this bulletin board system. In
- doing so, you are granted privileges by request to
- private message areas if qualified. This is of no
- risk to you to answer the questions honestly and
- your information will remain confidential! This
- is automatically enforced on your first log in. If
- you wish to upgrade your status to Adult user or
- Visiting Sysop, you may fill out those
- questionnaires at any time.

- QK) QWK Mail This command will take you to the QWK Mail menu
- Utility which will display several options for you. You
- will be able to pack any unread messages into a
- QWK mail packet. The QWK mail packet will then be
- transferred to you via your default protocol. QWK
- mail packets are for downloading of messages for
- offline reading. You must have a QWK compatible
- offline mail reader in order to read the
- downloaded mail. QWK reply packets can be
- uploaded via the U)pload command.

- R)ead Messages This will place you in a "read" mode whereby you
- can perform various operations on the currently
- logged message directory. You will be able to
- S)can all message headers for particular subjects,
- C)heck for mail addressed to you, R)eply to
- messages, E)nter messages, or successively read
- each message.

- RG) Read Global Similar to (R)ead command, but automatically
- threads the caller through all joined areas.

- T)ype A File Allows you to list an ASCII text file and is
- similar to the DOS "TYPE" command. This command
- can be used to list the bulletins available on the
- BULLETIN directory.

- TB) Time Bank Access your Time Bank account for processing.
- Withdraw time or convert to netmail credits,
- additonal time or whatever.

- U)pload File Requests for the host computer to receive a file
- upload from the guest computer. The file will be
- transferred with your default protocol. To change
- your default protocol see option 'Y' (Your
- settings).

- UB)join Message Unjoin a group of conferences, so that they are
- Board not scanned for for mail or placed in QWK packets.
-
- UG) Upload Followed by automatic logoff... upload and
- & goodbye. Uploaded files must comply with ASP's
- Goodbye "diz" standard, otherwise the caller will be
- prompted for descriptions, thus canceling the
- automatic logoff.

- UN)join Message Unjoin a conference, so that it is not scanned for
- Area mail or placed in QWK packets.

- V)ersion Number Displays GT Version number for this system.

- W)here Is File Allows entry of a file mask to be used as a search
- key for determining whether a file exists on any
- one of the file directories. Wildcards can be
- used in a FILENAME search.

- X)pert Mode Turns on/off the "expert" mode. Expert mode
- suppresses the main menu display and abbreviates
- all commands.

- Y)our Profile Lists what access privileges you have on the system.
- This option will also allow changes to:
- 1. Your ANSI Setting
- 2. Your password
- 3. Your address
- 4. Your phone number
- 5. Your screen length
- 6. Your default protocol
