- Documentation for FASTAT V1.0H/082893 by Andy Gruenenwald
- ---------------------------------------------------------
-
- FASTAT = File Area STATistics
-
- FASTAT is a utility program to generate a set of ANS/ASC bulletin files
- containing file area statistics. FASTAT is intended to be used with
- Powerboard BBS software 1.25 or 1.25A. It has not been tested with other
- versions.
-
- FORMAT:
-
- FASTAT [bulletin number]
-
- FASTAT must be placed into your main BBS directory (C:\BBS or whatever).
- FASTAT will access your AREAS\FAREA1.BBS file to get a list of file areas.
- It will then go to each area and read the FILES.BBS file to get file
- information for that area.
-
- FASTAT will create two files: BULL<bulletin number>.ANS and
- BULL<bulletin number>.ASC. For example, if you type "FASTAT 4" then FASTAT
- will create BULL4.ANS and BULL4.ASC. If you omit the bulletin number on the
- command line, FASTAT will create BULL0.ANS and BULL0.ASC.
-
- The bulletin files will list all file areas in conference 1 and show how
- many files and bytes are in each area. At the bottom of the bulletin, totals
- are displayd for files and bytes. Commas are inserted into the bytes coloum
- for easier reading.
-
- FASTAT will place the bulletin files it creates in the DISPLAY\ directory.
-
-
- Improvements to FASTAT
- ----------------------
- This is the first main release of FASTAT. At this point it isn't very
- configurable. FASTAT is intended to be used with a Powerboard setup similer
- to the default installation setup. It assumes you have a AREAS\FAREA1.BBS
- file and a DISPLAY\ directory. If either is missing, FASTAT will not work.
- It also assumes that you use FILES.BBS files.
-
- If there are users who like this program and there is enough feedback about
- it I will consider improving it. Likely improvements are:
-
- ∙ Support for more than conference #1
-
- ∙ User-Definable ANSI-colors for the ANSI bulletin file
-
- ∙ display only selected file areas based on security level (so users
- don't see stats on a SYSOP-only file area)
-
-
