-
-
- Background / What is DB?
-
- DB is a generic database system that is fully menu driven.
- It has several typical uses, including these common tasks:
-
-
- Contact Management
- Phone Call Management / Telemarketing with autodialing,
- phone call log, and Elapsed phone call timer,
- checks for outstanding phone calls
- PIM - Personal Information Manager
- Scheduling / Time Management (TTD),
- with rescheduling of outstanding items
- Mass Mailings / Form letters / Mail Merge
- Interface to your Word Processor and/or other applications
- Built in editor or interface to your editor
- User defined fields/databases (DBF format)
- Formula templates can perform calculations on records
- Tickler/Reminder fields
- Multiple databases
- Popup Calendars and Calculators
- Online Help
- Unlimited size notes/memos per record
-
- DB was developed with a focus on USABILITY. The functions
- are intuitive and not over done. When advanced features are
- implemented they are as unobtrusive as possible.
-
- DB automatically installs itself, and sets itself up. The
- user interface (UI) is a modern design using pulldown menus
- and picklists. Standard editing and navagation keys were
- adopted making DB as simple to operate as possible for the
- novice. Once you get used to DB, you will find the hotkeys
- are easy to find and quite intuitive. Data entry - Adding
- records - adopts some efficient features such as; duplicating
- the last record, duplicating a field from the last record,
- popup calculator that can feed a calculation to the current
- field, etc. External Word Processor / Editor support allows
- the user to either use the built in editor, or use his/her
- favorite existing processor.
-
-
- Reference Manual
-
- There is a selection under options from within DB where you
- can print out a reference manual. It is basically a complete
- guide to each menu selection, created from your online help
- index. All information in the reference manual is available
- online by pressing F1 for HELP.

- DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE
-
- Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try
- software before buying it. If you try a Shareware program
- and continue using it, you are expected to register.
- Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial
- software, and the copyright holder retains all rights.
-
- Shareware authors are accomplished programmers, just like
- commercial authors, and the programs are of comparable
- quality. In both cases, there are good programs and bad
- ones! The main difference is in the method of
- distribution. The author specifically grants the right to
- copy and distribute the software, either to all and sundry
- or to a specific group.
-
- Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of
- software. You should find software that suits your needs
- and pocketbook, whether it's commercial or Shareware. The
- Shareware system makes fitting your needs easier, because
- you can try before you buy. And because the overhead is
- low, prices are low also. Shareware has the ultimate
- money-back guarantee -- if you don't use the product, you
- don't pay for it.
