-
- INTRODUCTION.
- -------------
-
- Ever had the daunting task of locally uploading a bunch of new files
- onto your BBS and had to use PCBoard's local upload ??? Well CONADD
- was born as a result of this very reason. I am faced with literally
- 100s of upload on a weekly basis and doing it via the local upload
- facility used to take hours ....
-
- CONADD cuts this time into minutes. Used in conjunction with CONINS
- you can locally upload 100 files into your new upload directory or in
- fact anywhere on your board that your want, and at the same time
- update the DIR file list for that area. This version of CONADD will
- work with any BBS DIR File list provided it can find it and you know
- what info must go where in the list.
-
-
- PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS.
- ---------------------
-
- The program requires the following:
-
- 512 KB RAM
- PKZIP.EXE & PKUNZIP.EXE v 1.1, 1.93A, 2.04G
-
-
- INSTALLATION.
- -------------
-
- The self extracting CONADD archive contains the following files :
-
- CONADD .COM - The CONADD executable file.
- CONADD .CFG - Sample configuration file.
- CONADD .DOC - The CONADD documentation.
- CONADD .HST - CONADD Version history file
- README .1ST - New Features not included in this document.
- REGISTER.FRM - Concept Systems Software registration form.
- PRODUCTS.CON - Concept Systems Software catalogue.
- FILE_ID .DIZ - Description file.
-
- Note that the archive should display -AV when extracting the files, if
- not the archive has been tampered with. The latest version of CONADD
- can be downloaded from my bulletin board -
-
- The Concept BBS
- Phone : (011) 440-6246
- Speed : 2400 - 38400
- Hours : 24 hours.
-
- All the Concept Systems software is available in the Concept Soft
- Conference - Conference 10.
-
- Installation is easy - if you have a utility directory you may use
- this directory otherwise create a directory for CONADD and unzip the
- archive into whichever directory you want.
-
- Placing the executable file into the DOS PATH will make CONADD easier
- to use. Please ENSURE that the configuration file that you create is
- in your DOS path - or CONADD will not work as described - in fact it
- will probably hang up your machine.
-
- The next thing to do is create or modify the CONADD.CFG file to suit
- your system. Please note that unlike my other utilities the
- configuration file name can be changed as you might like to utilize
- CONADD with several different CONFIG files. Also please note that the
- config need not be in the same directory as the executable, but when
- executing CONADD the configuration file must be on the same drive as
- CONADD or the program will not work.

-
- The configuration file consists of twenty lines and ONLY THE FIRST
- TWENTY LINES of this file are read by the program.
-
-
- Line 1 :- Registration Name
- ---------------------------
-
- If you have registered CONADD the name that you completed on the
- registration form should be inserted onto this line - EXACTLY as you
- entered it on the form.
-
- If not registered enter your name on this line or leave the line
- blank.
-
-
- Line 2 :- Registration Number
- -----------------------------
-
- After registering CONADD you will receive a personalized registration
- number - enter this number on this line. If you haven't registered
- either leave the line blank or enter 00000000.
-
-
- Line 3 :- DIR File Path & Name
- ------------------------------
-
- This line points CONADD to the path and location of the FILE LIST that
- it must update. If the FILE LIST does not exist CONADD will create it
- for you automatically.
-
- eg: C:\PCB\LST\DIR001
-
-
- Line 4 :- Move File Path
- ------------------------
-
- This line points CONADD to the path where you wish the files in the
- current directory moved to, providing everything is OK. CONADD will
- check the ARCHIVE for two things:
-
- 1. FILE_ID.DIZ - If the DIZ file is not found CONADD will move
- the ARCHIVE to an OFFLINE directory that you specify in the
- next line of the CONFIG FILE.
-
- 2. ARCHIVE INTEGRITY - If the ARCHIVE is OK CONADD will move the
- file. If not CONADD will move the file to the OFFLINE
- directory
-
- eg: C:\PCB\UPLOAD
-
-
- Line 5 :- OFFLINE Path.
- -----------------------
-
- Should the archive to be moved not have a DIZ file or the archive
- integrity is bad CONADD will move the file into this directory for
- scrutiny by yourself.
-
- eg: C:\PCB\OFFLINE
-
-
- Line 6 :- PKZIP.EXE Path
- ------------------------
-
- Enter the path to PKZIP.EXE on this line - if left blank the program
- will not work. CONADD will verify that PKZIP exists at this location
- so please enter the correct path.
-
- eg : C:\ZIP
- C:\ZIP\
-
-
- Line 7 :- PKZIP.EXE Version
- ---------------------------
-
- Due to the fact that PKZIP v 1.1 behaves a little differently to the
- newer version 2.x pf PKZIP this line distinguishes which version you
- are currently using. If blank CONADD will default to version handling
- and if you are using PKZIP v 1.1 the screens WILL BE OVERWRITTEN.
-
- For PKZIP v 1.1 enter a 1
- PKZIP v 2.x enter a 2
-
-
- Line 8 :- TEMP Path.
- --------------------
-
- If you have a RAM drive or fast TEMP drive CONADD will utilize this
- drive for searches - enter the path to this drive. If left blank the
- program will use the DOS default defined in the PC's environment.
- (Registered version only)
-
- eg D:\
- E:\TEMP\
-
-
- Line 9 :- File list SIZE Column Start.
- --------------------------------------
-
- This item configures the column where CONADD will insert the file size
- of the archive currently being processed. In PCBoard DIR Lists the
- default is column 14
-
- PCBoard Format:

-
- The file separator in a PCB DIR list file
-
-
- Line 13 :- Date update FLAG.
- ----------------------------
-
- By default CONADD will add the date of the oldest file in the archive
- being processed to the DIR File List. I have had requests while the
- program was in BETA for a switch to be added so that CONADD will
- update the file list with the current system date. This has been done
- and the syntax is as follows.
-
- eg: T - Tells CONADD to update the list with the current system date
-
- O - or a blank tells CONADD to update the list with the oldest
- date found in the archive.
-
-
- Line 14:- SCAN Archives
- -----------------------
-
- Conadd now has the facility to scan an archive for virii - in this
- column type either Y or N. Bu typing Y CONADD will check each archive
- for virii using the VIRUS SCANNER - SCAN.EXE by McAffe. Note that
- this is the only virus scanner supported by CONADD currently. Should
- you want to disable this feature type an N in this line.
-
-
- Line 15:- PATH to SCAN.EXE
- --------------------------
-
- If you have selected Y in line 14, scan for virus, on line 15 enter
- the drive and path to your SCAN.EXE, this field may contain a trailing
- backslash. If you answered N in line 14 then leave this field blank.
-
- eg:
-
- H:\ZIP\
-
-
- Line 16:- SCAN.EXE command line parameters.
- -------------------------------------------
-
- If you have selected Y in line 14, scan for virus, enter the
- parameters to use with the SCAN.EXE, a full list of parameters may be
- gleaned from the SCAN documentation.
-
- eg:
- /NOMEM /NOPAUSE /NOBREAK
-
-
- Line 17:- Insert .ZIP COMMENT.
- ------------------------------
-
- If you want CONADD to include a .ZIP comment - answer Y in this
- position. If you wish to exclude this feature type an N.
-
-
- Line 18:- Name and location of .ZIP comment.
- --------------------------------------------
-
- If you answer Y in line 17, Insert .ZIP Comment, you must insert the
- drive, path and filename of the text file to add to the ZIP files
- being processed. If you answered N then leave this line blank
-
- eg:
- H:\UTIL\CONADD.CMT
-
-
- Line 19:- Enable CONADD Logging.
- --------------------------------
-
- By default the CONADD logging facility is turned off - if you wish
- CONADD to log your sessions enter a Y in this line.
-
-
- Line 20:- Name and location of CONADD Log File.
- -----------------------------------------------
-
- If you answered Y in line 19, Enable CONADD Logging, you must enter
- the drive, path and file name of the logfile that you wish CONADD to
- write to.
-
- eg:
- H:\LOG\CONADD.LOG
-
-
- USING CONADD.
- -------------
-
- Using the program is simple:
-
- 1. Change to the directory where your archives are located.
-
- 2. Ensure that you complete the configuration file correctly.
-
- 3. On the command line type:
-
- CONADD [Drive:\Path\Name of CONFIG file.]
-
- eg CONADD C:\LIST\CONADD.CFG
-
-
- Press enter and off you go - it's that simple. CONADD will display
- its' progress on the screen.
-
- Please note as I mentioned earlier ensure that the CONADD.CFG file on
- the same drive that CONADD is executed from or the program will not
- work and will report an error.
-
- This version of CONADD should work with most type of BBS lists and if
- it doesn't and you would really like it to please contact and I will
- do what I can to help.
-
-
- SUPPORT.
- --------
-
- Should you wish to comments or make recommendations, Please leave a
- message on the above mentioned board, I will answer any mail left on
- the board - and will certainly entertain an new ideas for the program
- should there be any. Mail should be address to either SYSOP or PAUL
- GIRAUD when left on the BBS.
-
- A plea to all users - please read the DOCS before using CONADD I have
- been inundated with calls from users that say that CONADD doesn't work
- and only to find that when following the correct installation
- procedures the program works fine.
-
-
- TIPS.
- -----
-
- If you are in a hurry I suggest turning off the VIRUS SCAN FEATURE
- and ZIP COMMENT FEATURES, they will slow down the whole process.
-
- If you are a registered user of CONADD I highly recommend that you
- install a RAMDRIVE and select the same as your temporary drive,
- CONADD will actually utilize the RAMDRIVE and the whole SCAN,
- COMMENT and insertion procedure will speed up about 30-40%.
-
