- CLEAN BOOT INSTRUCTIONS FOR DOS
-
- The error you are experiencing during tape operations may be caused
- by memory resident programs, or other devices, (mouse drivers,
- etc.) that may be occupying memory which we may need for our
- functions. In order to eliminate this possibility, test your
- system with a system bootable diskette. To do this, please follow
- these instructions.
-
- Start with a clean (blank) diskette: FORMAT A: /S
-
- Once the system has been transferred to the diskette, you will need
- to add an AUTOEXEC.BAT & CONFIG.SYS to this diskette. The
- following commands need to be included:
-
-
- AUTOEXEC.BAT CONFIG.SYS
- prompt $P$g files=20
- c: buffers=20
- cd\tape
- tape
-
-
- Once these files are added to the boot diskette, you will need to
- reboot your machine using this diskette. When rebooting your
- machine, DO NOT use CTRL-ALT- DELETE; instead, use your power
- switch or the reset button.

-
-
- Once you have verified the tape drive is working from the local
- hard drive, include "IPX", "NETX" and "LOGIN" commands in the
- autoexec.bat to test ability to backup the network hard drive, if
- you are using Novell. If you are using a peer to peer network such
- as Lantastic, call your STARTNET batch file. (Please check this
- batch file for loading of additional tars prior to calling the
- batch file). If you have a network which requires drivers (such as
- IBM Token Ring), please insert the appropriate drivers in your
- config.sys file.
