  47.         FLASH_S.EXE is a utility to easily update the BIOS on an
  48.         ELSA WINNER II graphics board.
  49.  
  50.         You will find a list of supported ELSA graphics boards
  51.         in section 4.1.

  56. 2.      Disk/CD Contents

  58.         The program disk/CD contains the following files:

  60.         FLASH_S.EXE     the executable program
  61.  
  62.         DOS4GW.EXE      DOS extender used by FLASH_S.EXE

  65.         README.TXT      this text file, including notes on the
  66.                         current program release
  67.  
  68.         LIESMICH.TXT    German version of the text you are currently
  69.                         reading

  71.         IMAGES (DIR)    Subdirectory containing the BIOS images which
  72.                         are used for update. You will find a list of
  73.                         these images in section 4.1.

  78. 3.      Usage Notes
  79.  
  80. 3.1     Standard BIOS update
  81.  
  82.         If you want to update the BIOS on your ELSA WINNER II
  83.         graphics board just call FLASH_S.EXE from MS-DOS by:
  84.  
  85.         FLASH_S.EXE
  86.  
  87.         The program will look for supported ELSA graphics boards.
  88.         If the program will find one of the supported graphic boards
  89.         in your computer, it will search for the correct BIOS image
  90.         in the directory IMAGES.
  91.  
  92.         After confirmation the program will save your old BIOS to the
  93.         file C:\OLD_xxxx.bin (xxxx is a number, i.e. C:\OLD_0000.bin,
  94.         C:\OLD_0001.bin, ...) and program the new image to your
  95.         ELSA graphics board.
  96.  
  97.         Notes:
  98.  
  99.         - If the BIOS currently installed on your ELSA graphics board
  100.           is the same version than the BIOS in IMAGES, no update is
  101.           done.
  102.  
  103.         - If the BIOS currently installed is older than the one in
  104.           IMAGES, you will be asked if you really want to program
  105.           an older BIOS version to your graphics board.
  106.           If you confirm with 'y' your current BIOS will be saved to
  107.           C:\OLD_xxxx.bin and the older image will be programmed
  108.           to your ELSA graphics board.

  111. 3.2     Command Line Parameters
  112.

  114.         FLASH_S.EXE [filename]
  115.  
  116.         It is possible to pass the filename of the BIOS image, you want
  117.         to program to your graphics board to FLASH_S.EXE.
  118.         If you i.e. pass the name of the saved image to FLASH_S.EXE it
  119.         is possible to restore your saved BIOS version to your
  120.         ELSA graphics board:
  121.  
  122.         (e.g.: FLASH_S.EXE C:\OLD_0000.BIN)
  123.  
  124.         FLASH_S.EXE will check if the BIOS matches your graphics board.
  125.         If not you will get a note.

  129. 4.      Release Notes

  131. 4.1     Supported graphics boards

  133.           ELSA WINNER II                 (IMAGES\W2_xxxxx.apn)

  136.         The program FLASH_S.EXE will check if the BIOS image is valid
  137.         and useable with your ELSA graphics board.
  138.

  142. 5.      Notes & Warnings
  143.  
  144. 5.1     Don't corrupt your BIOS!
  145.  
  146.         Please make sure that while programming a new BIOS to your
  147.         ELSA graphics board you
  148.  
  149.         - don't reset,
  150.         - don't switch off
  151.           or
  152.         - don't interrupt your computer in any way until it's finished!
  153.  
  154.         If you interrupt FLASH_S.EXE in any way before finishing your
  155.         BIOS, you will corrupt the BIOS of your graphics board.
  156.         In this case, please phone our support.
  157.  
  158.         Please wait, until FLASH_S.EXE has finished programming the new
  159.         BIOS to your ELSA graphics board.
  160.  
  161.         The program FLASH_S.EXE will give you a note after it has
  162.         successfully finished the bios programming.

  165. 5.2     Windows DOS-boxes, OS/2
  166.  
  167.         Please note that the program FLASH_S.EXE doesn't work in a
  168.         Windows (98/NT) DOS-box or under OS/2.
  169.  
  170.         You have to boot a DOS system.
