  8. SYMPTOMS: 1. "SNA_free: Memory Routine Free ERROR.  Attempt to free ptr to
  9.           zero"
  10.           2. Incorrect values in Netview statistics counters.
  11.           3. SDLC link disconnected.
  12.           4. SAA server cannot establish SDLC connection.
  13.           5. "CNS UNABLE TO READ AGENT CONFIGURATION ERROR CODE 10EH"
  14.  
  15. ISSUE/PROBLEM
  16. 1. When a SNA REQMS 02 or 03 command is sent from the host:
  17.      A. If the connection to the host is Token Ring the error message
  18.      "SNA_free:Memory Routine Free ERROR is displayed. 
  19.      B. If the connection is SDLC, incorrect statistics may be sent to the
  20.      host.
  21.  
  22. 2. SAA does not acknowledge or respond to a poll bit set on within the SDLC
  23. Information (I) frame.  Eventually this results in the host issuing a
  24. disconnect command.
  25.  
  26. 3. The server does not respond to a TEST frame sent by the host may result
  27. in the server hanging.
  28.    
  29. 4. Under certain circumstances, the server may send two UA frames in
  30. response to a SNRM from the host.  The host responds with a disconnect
  31. command.
  32.  
  33. 5. The error message "CNS UNABLE TO READ AGENT CONFIGURATION ERROR CODE
  34. 10Eh" may appear when the Commexec is loaded automatically via the
  35. AUTOEXEC.NCF file.  If Commexec is loaded manually the error does not
  36. occur.

  38. SOLUTION
  39. 1. The PTF corrects the problem:
  40.      A. With a Token Ring connection the server will no longer hang.  
  41.      Note: A REQMS request is not valid if the connection to the host is
  42.      Token Ring, no statistics will be returned.
  43.      B. With a SDLC connection the correct statistics will now be returned.
  44.  
  45. 2. NetWare for SAA will now send a Receiver Ready (RR) with the final bit
  46. set on in response to an Information frame from the host with the poll bit
  47. on.
  48.  
  49. 3. & 4. SDLCPS.NLM has been modified to respond correctly to a TEST frame
  50. and to prevent two UA frames from being sent.
  51.  
  52. 5. DBA.NLM has been modified to correct a timing related problem.
  53.  
  54. To apply PTF 317
  55. Copy the new DBA.NLM and SDLCPS.NLM over the same named files in the
  56. NetWare for SAA directory.  No reconfiguration is necessary
