- SYTOS/PKZIP BACKUP PROCEDURE
-
- Written 06/09/90 by Michael Golden
- First Release 7/25/90
-
- This is a simple combination of two commonly used utilities-
- Sytron Corporations' SY-TOS tape operating system and PKWAREs'
- PKZIP file compression utility. Combining the two creates a very
- powerful backup utility.
-
- These files should be placed in the same directory as SY-TOS.
-
- SYS0ZIP
- SYSZIP
- SYSALL.BAT
-
-
- Assumptions:
-
- Drive Mappings-
-
- G: = SYS:
- H: = SYS2: (2nd volume)
- I: = SYS3: (3rd volume)
- J: = SYS4: (4th volume)
- K: = SYS5: (5th volume)
- L: = SYS6: (6th volume)
- M: = SYS7: (7th volume)
- N: = SYS8: (8th volume)
- O: = Mapped to Bat file / Menu file directory
- P: = Mapped to Sytos directory
-
-
- Create a user profile called "BACKUP" or something similar.
- Grant Read-Open-Search rights to the root directory of all your volumes.
- Profile will also need Write rights on SYS to create ZIP files, and whatever
- directory SYTOS is located in if installed on a Network drive.
- For added security restrict BACKUP profile to the node(s) having tape drive(s).
-
-
-
- Skipped Files-
-
- All ARC/PAK/ZIP Files
-
-
- Software Versions -
-
- PKZIP 1.10
- SYTOS 3.11 (3.10 does not work)
-
-
-
- If you discover any improvements or have any questions, send me a message.
