- ACCESS provides three major functions:
-
- 1. Execute the IBM LAN SERVER CHKSTOR and review and save the results.
-
- 2. Access the list of all users with home directories.
-
- 3. Reaccess user detail for the content of their home directories.
-
- You may generate two types of reports
-
- 1. User List provides a display or print out of users with home directories.
-
- 2. User Detail provides a display or print out of all files in the home
- directories of users.

- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2. Access the user list ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

- Any analysis of home directory content must begin with a list of users who have
- home directories. To obtain this list:
-
- 1. Logon to your Lan Sever as an administrator.
-
- 2. Select a server. By selecting the Domain Controller you will access all
- users.
-
- 3. Press the Access User List button. During the process the file
- <servername>.USR is created. It contains a list of all defined users.
- During this process you will be asked if you wish to access detail
- information for each user. By selecting the YES option a detail file
- <servername>.DTL is created. This file will be used for later analysis. If
- your home directories' definitions change infrequently you may reuse the
- the user information just created by simply selecting Reaccess User Detail
- to refresh the detail information for analysis.

- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 3. CHKSTOR ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

- You may execute the IBM Lan Server Utility CHKSTOR. It will provide a listing
- of all users who have a home directory with a limit set. If you have chosen not
- to set limits there will be no report. To execute CHKSTOR by server:

- 1. Logon to your Lan Sever as an administrator.

- 2. Select a server. By selecting the Domain Controller you will access all
- users.

- 3. Press the IBM CHKSTOR Utility button. During the process a the file
- <servername>.CHK is created. It contains the report created by this
- utility. You may access this report at any time by opening the DAT folder
- and double clicking on the <servername>.CHK file you desire. This will
- cause the E-Editor to be loaded with the report.

- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4. Reaccess detail ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

- The analysis of home directory content requires a detail list of their
- content. See the operations manual for a discussion on how to create a user
- list by department or location. To Reaccess a detail list:

- 1. Logon to your Lan Sever as an administrator.
-
- 2. Press the Reaccess User Detail button. You will be required to select the
- <servername>.USR for the detail required. A detail file <servername>.DTL
- will be created. This file will be used for later analysis.

- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 5. Reports ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

- 1. User List provides a display or print out of users with home directories.

- 2. User Detail provides a display or print out of all files in the home
- directories of users.

- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 6. View/Print users ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

- Access User List will create a file <servername>.USR that contains a list of
- all users with home directories. The printed report displays by user the
- assignment, limits, server location, and paths of each home directory.

- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 7. View/Print user detail ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- <servername>.DTL is created when you Access the user list or Reaccess User
- Detail contains information about all the files in users directories. The
- printed report contains the date, size, and name of files located in each
- user's home directory.
