-
- WHAT IS ROGER'S RAPID RESTART?
-
- Roger's Rapid Restart v2.0 gives you total control over exiting and
- restarting Windows. It is aimed at the Windows power-user and developer.
-
- It allows you to:
-
- - Exit Windows
- - Restart Windows without first going back to the DOS prompt
- - Exit Windows, run a DOS application, and restart Windows without
- further user intervention. This is particularly useful for developers
- and power-users.
- - Exit Windows and reboot your system. This will exit Windows and
- perform a soft system reset.
-
- You can utilize our Rapid Restart (tm) feature to exit or restart Windows
- without the delays involved when each application is asked if it is OK to
- exit. This is particularly handy if you are running applications that
- always ask before terminating (such as a DOS application). You can also run
- Roger's Rapid Restart with passed-in parameters and have full access to its
- command set.
-
-
- A CAUTIONARY NOTE (PLEASE READ)
-
- Roger's Rapid Restart includes an optional feature called Rapid Restart (tm).
- This allows you to perform all the various methods of exiting and/or
- restarting Windows without the normal asking of permission to exit from each
- application. This is MUCH faster than the normal method ... particularly if
- you have active non-Windows apps that you have to either exit first or click
- on an OK button before exiting.
-
- However, Rapid Restart must be used with a bit of caution. If you have
- unsaved files open (e.g., a word processing file, etc.) they will be LOST if
- you use Rapid Restart. With the exception of obviously unsaved documents,
- most applications have no problem with exiting via the Rapid Restart method.
-
-
- INSTALLATION NOTES
-
- Once you have unarchived (or copied) all of Roger's Rapid Restart's
- files to a directory on your hard disk (e.g., C:\RESTART), run RESTART.EXE
- from Windows.
-
- The first time you run Roger's Rapid Restart, it will add itself to the
- LOAD= line in your WIN.INI file. If you decide at a later date to
- discontinue using Roger's Rapid Restart, simply remove this entry from the
- LOAD= line.
-
- Once installed, you can access Roger's Rapid Restart by pressing the
- activation sequence from within Windows (CONTROL+ALT+INSERT).
-
- That's all there is to it! We hope you enjoy the program. The trial
- license for Roger's Rapid Restart allows you to use it for a period of
- 21 days, after which time you must register it if you continue using it.
-
-
- USER'S GUIDE IN ON-LINE HELP
-
- Roger's Rapid Restart contains a complete User's Guide in its on-line
- help system. You can select the "Help" button when the main dialog is
- displayed.
-
-
- IF YOU DON'T WANT RRR TO ADD ITSELF TO YOUR LOAD= LINE
-
- To get the most benefit out of Roger's Rapid Restart, you should
- run it when Windows starts. However, you might wish to run RESTART.EXE
- from your StartUp group as opposed to the LOAD= line. If you have
- already installed RRR and want to run it from somewhere else, simply
- edit the WIN.INI file and remove its entry from the LOAD= line. If
- you have not yet run RESTART.EXE, simply create a file called RESTART.INI
- in your Windows directory and add the following lines:
-
- [RRR]
- Inst=1
-
-
-
- OBTAINING THE MOST UP-TO-DATE VERSION OF PLUG-IN
-
- If, for whatever reason, you want to be SURE that you have the
- absolute latest version of Roger's Rapid Restart, you may contact
- Plannet Crafters directly. We will ship you the latest version for
- a nominal charge of:
-
- $2 (including shipping / handling in the U.S. and Canada)
- $5 (including shipping / handling for International orders)
-
-
- HOW TO DE-INSTALL ROGER'S RAPID RESTART
-
- If you wish to de-install Roger's Rapid Restart from a system,
- do the following:
-
- 1) Disable the autoloading of RESTART.EXE when Windows
- starts up. By default, an entry is added to your
- LOAD= line in the WIN.INI file. Simply edit WIN.INI
- and remove this entry.
- 2) Shutdown RRR by selecting "Remove" in the main dialog.
- 3) Delete all files in Roger's Rapid Restart's home directory
- (assuming this directory contains ONLY RRR files!)
-
-
- CHANGE HISTORY
