  1.            InfoMagic Internet Tools CD-ROM

  4. This disc contains a collection of packages and utilities for managing
  5. and operating hosts on the internet using both TCP/IP and OSI/ISO
  6. protocols.  The directory layout is shown in the files index.unx (for
  7. UNIX(tm)) and index.dos (for MS-DOS(r)).

  9. The disc is mastered with Rock Ridge extensions and all files have
  10. been left with their long mixed case filenames.  For systems that do
  11. not support the Rock Ridge extensions a translation table is provided
  12. in each directory (YMTRANS.TBL) which shows the original filename and
  13. the ISO-9660 alias.  Files in the dos_win directory tree all have
  14. ISO-9660 compliant names so DOS users will be able to access them more
  15. easily.  The one exception is the source for gzip which has its full
  16. UNIX(tm) name (gzip-1.2.4.tar.gz).

  18. The files "ls_lr.*" are an exhaustive listing of every file on the CD
  19. and are provided in both unix(tm) format (lines end with LF) and
  20. MS-DOS(r) format (lines end with CRLF).  The Unix(tm) format file is
  21. ls_lr.unx and the MS-DOS(r) format file is ls_lr.dos.

  23. We have provided a directory under "dos_win" called "onthenet" that
  24. contains a subset of the Microsoft Windows(tm) applications
  25. sufficient to establish a SLIP or PPP connection to an Internet
  26. Provider and perform all the usual Internet tasks (mail, news, ftp,
  27. and WWW browsing).  Each of these packages is supplied as a "zip"
  28. file (pkunzip is in "dos_win\tools") and each contains both the
  29. executable and intallation and configuration notes.  Several of these
  30. are Shareware as are many of the applications in the "dos_win\winsock\apps" 
  31. directory and the following terms apply:

  33. The term Shareware describes a marketing method in which copyrighted
  34. programs circulate freely among users for the purpose of evaluation.
  35. This gives you the option to "Try Before You Buy".  The author of a
  36. Shareware program typically allows you to try the program for up to
  37. 30 days before payment is required.  The exact terms of evaluation
  38. vary from author to author, so be sure to check the documentation of
  39. the programs you evaluate.

  41. The fee you pay to InfoMagic, Inc. is a distribution fee and does not
  42. cover the cost of the program itself.  Programs which are used beyond
  43. the author's prescribed evaluation period require a separate payment
  44. to the author.  By making payment to the author you obtain a lefal
  45. right to use the software, and encourage the continued development of
  46. quality software within the Shareware channel.

  48. The process of paying for Shareware is termed "registration".  The
  49. exact benefits of registration vary from author to author, but many
  50. authors will offer one or more of the following: a current version,
  51. technical support, a printed manual, free of discounted upgrades,
  52. bonus utilities or special offers.  Consult the registration
  53. information included with each program for specific details.

  57. License, a copy of which is in the file COPYING in the root directory.
