- NOTES ON ANSI MANIPULATION WITH THEDRAW - Michael Arnett 3/89
- ...................................................................
-
- To edit characters that you "can't see" in TheDraw, use the LIMIT
- option under ALT-J. After selecting Limit, if you press the HOME
- key you will go to the very beginning of your animation sequence.
- (The screen should be blank). You can then use the up/down arrow
- keys (one position at a time) or the PgUp/PgDn (100 positions at a
- time) to move to the section you want to correct. Press Enter;
- make your corrections; then select ALT-J and Limit, then press the END
- key and Enter again to get back to the end of your animation sequence.
-
- Markers are pretty handy when using animation. You can place a
- Marker after a particular sequence to allow you to refer back to
- that point in your drawing. You can also go back and place markers
- in your drawing using the Limit option. Just move to the position
- in your drawing that you want a marker and then select "K", then
- Set a marker.
-
- Suppose you have an initial background screen in your drawing and
- you use GATE to present it, Set a Marker where the initial screen
- finishes drawing. Then at any time you can go back to that Marker
- and reset the scan option for the portion of the drawing up to that
- Marker.
-
- If your screen is say 15,000 entries, you can set several Markers
- to make it easy to find particular sequences if you need to make
- corrections. NOTE: Available with registered version only.
-
- As to Pages, I lost a lot of work when I started, trying to figure
- out pages. The thing to remember is what you have already learned;
- if you are going to work with pages, you have to do it ALL in one
- sitting. One way to work around this is to use the INCLUDE option
- (under ALT-J). This allows you to build a list of separate files
- that will all be INCLUDED in the current screen when you save it
- avoiding the necessity to use: DOS COPY FILE1.ANS+FILE2.ANS FILE3.ANS
- command. It will also give you the option of placing a seperate file
- into the middle of the current screen.
-
- You can't use Block moves for animation but you can use Block Copy and
- STAMP the block as you move. If you want to move a block from the left
- side of the screen to the right side try this. Include a blank space
- to the left of the character you want to move when you Mark the block;
- then select Copy. Then each time you move the block one space to the
- right, STAMP it in that position. The blank space will overwrite the
- old character position and the charater you are moving will be rewritten
- in the new position.
-
- This has gotten sort of long winded. Hope it has cleared up some things
- for you. Just keep practicing and it'll all come to you, I'm sure.
- Just holler if you have any more questions.
