  5. ■ WHAT?
  6.  
  7. RENMOD is a simple protracker module renamer. It's handy if you are often 
  8. dnloading modules from Aminet (or geting them from your Amiga-amigos :). Amiga
  9. style naming convention for modules is based on adding prefix "mod." to the 
  10. filename. Because MS-DOS supports only 8.3 filenames, mod filenames are
  11. truncated to the "mod.foo" form when obtained from Amiga oriented systems.
  12. Biggest disadventage of this situation is that the most of pc modplayers uses
  13. filename extension to recognize module type (especialy players with bilt-in 
  14. fileselectors) and you can't load modules with other extension that MOD (or S3M
  15. or XM or MTM or... :). Another drawback is that you can recognize module by 
  16. only three letters from its name. In short - it sucks!.  You can ofcourse rename
  17. module by hand, but try to do this with 356 tunes :(

  20. ■ HOW?

  22. Just feed him with mod filename and listen the results with a good modplayer
  23. (CubicPlayer or Mod4Win :). RENMOD allows 101 modules which names are starting
  24. with 8 identical letters e.g. congobongo_boo.mod, congobongo_yo.mod, congob...
  25. Two letter number will be added to the basename.
  26. Warning: RENMOD doesn't perform filetype checking so if you feed him with the
  27. file that isn't module, strange things may happen.
