- Nintendo has made a fortune off of such games,
- and there is still money to be made at it.

- The thing to remember is that when you create a character, make him/her
- interesting enough to draw attention to the game, without distracting the
- player's attention ~C~Iaway from the game itself.~Y~I

- Also, make sure that the character fits into the milieu. A ninja in a
- motorcycle gang probably isn't a great idea. On the other hand, a ninja
- crawling around the skyscrapers of Manhattan can work just fine.

- Try asking yourself what the essential nature of
- the character is. A ninja crawls around the
- outsides of buildings, at least until he can find
- a way in. The buildings can be almost anywhere,
- old Japan or modern New York.

- imaginations. It will take more time and work than just whipping up another

- stand out from the crowd.~k

- A particular game might not have a central character. This is the case with
- flight simulators and similar games. Not all games can or should have a

- If your game has a central character, plan the character well. Take time to
- make the appearance of the central character very professional looking. The
- central character of a game is on the screen more than anything else. The
- perception of the quality of your game is directly related to how good
- everything looks on screen.
