  7. 1It has come to my attention that the general concensus of people seem to
  8. {1dislike Prisoner Cell Block H, @2why@1?

  10. 1I also seem to have noticed that if you ask somebody who dislikes it if they
  11. 1have actually watched it they will say something like "No, I dont need to coz
  12. 1its so bad!, or if they have (well at least they say they have) they will 
  13. 1always and I mean always, say "It`s so bad even the walls shake".
  14. 1Now I have to clear this point up. I have watched Prisoner for years and to
  15. 1my knowledge I will admit that walls have shook about twice that I have seen.
  16. 1However I have also watched Neighbours and the walls in that place shake so
  17. 1often that I am sure there is some sort of constant seizmic activity centered
  18. 1around Erinsbourgh (if you dont believe me watch the Coffee Shop walls around
  19. 1the front door!!).
  20. 1But it really is the people who dont even watch it that annoy me the most. At
  21. 1college if we try and talk about it there will be guarenteed somebody come
  22. 1over and say "Prisoner, thats shit. Fuck off you sad Bastards", to which I
  23. 1connot even be bothered to reply to.

  25. 1Back to my point, if people would only stick with Prisoner for more that 10
  26. 1minutes they would realise that it definately has one of the best story lines
  27. 1around of any soap opera, no question about it.
  28. 1Another point is that how many soaps about 2/3 years ago had 3 shows a week,
  29. 1well to my knowledge only Neighbours and Home and Away did (not counting
  30. 1the omnibus edition of Eastenders on a Sunday). This shows that Granada (my
  31. 1area - I cant comment on other TV regions) had quite a lot of faith in the
  32. 1program as did the advertisers who paid for their adverts in the breaks.
  33. 1BBC can show their old shit (ie Eastenders) as much as they want because they
  34. 1have already paid for it.

  36. 1Whatever style of TV you like you can be guarenteed that Prisoner has some of
  37. 1it, here are some examples :-

  39. 1Violence: Innumerous fights between the inmates,  
  40. 1          The great Wentworth riot where people were hung, poisoned, shot,etc
  41. 1          The more recent burning of Blackmore and shooting of Mr ?
  42. 1
  43. 1Lurve: Chuckie falling in love with ... and her bid to get out and live with 
  44. 1       him (it almost brought a tear to my eye)
  45. 1       Mr Pringle and Mrs ... weading
  46. 1
  47. 1Action: The Blackmore riots
  48. 1        The fight between The Freak and Rita Conners
  49. 1        The Freak setting the bikers gang on fire
  50. 1
  51. 1Comedy: The constant exploits of Merle thinking she is Captain Marvoulous
  52. 1        Somebody trying to escape Wentworth in a model of a robot!

  54. 1These are just some of the reasons for watching, the most exciting being the
  55. 1riot at Wentworth where somebody killed themselves, Chucky was beaten up, the
  56. 1riot police called in etc. This and I am not joking is probably the best
  57. 1piece of television I have ever watched and I was quite literaly on the edge
  58. 1of my seat (well my bed actually).

  60. 1Talking about my bed (shadey link here), many people complain about the time
  61. 1that it is on at. Well come on, if you cant stay up until around 11:30 you
  62. 1really dont deserve to watch it, and in this day and age just how many people
  63. 1dont have a video recorder??

  65. 1The only complain I do have about it is that Granada do have a tendency to
  66. 1not show Prisoner if something shitty like the football is on (they only have
  67. 1the Endsliegh League for gods sake - bit of a fantasy football joke there).
  68. 1Some people (whose who dislike it) say that this shows how bad it is that
  69. 1they are always canceling it, well it is not cancelled just delayed (thats my
  70. 1excuse anyway).
  71. 1My other complaint (well not complaint really) is that the women in it are a
  72. 1tad on the ugly side infact one of my friends (pah! friend!) who does not
  73. 1like it calls it "Ugly Women Block H" and I can see his point but you must
  74. 1remember that firstly they are Australian (ooh!, I can see complaints about
  75. 1that one already) and secondly it is supposed to be set in prison and they
  76. 1are not noted for their supply of super-models are they?? But saying that I
  77. 1did like Chucky who has unfortunately left now (boo, hoo, goodbye Chucky!)

  79. 1So to those of you who (may) have read this and still think that Prisoner is
  80. 1shit and wont even give it a try then I say this - In the words of Jack Dee
