  2.   In  spring  1988  a huge new campaign
  3. was  started for a new beginning of the
  4. RWR  transmissions   with  high  power.
  5. Results were encouraging  and it seemed
  6. that the people were very interested in
  7. Free Radio. The new transmitter arrived
  8. shortly  before  Easter  1988.  The new
  9. transmitter  was  a 150 watt one with a
  10. 2-element Yagi directional antenna.Out-
  11. put power was 300 watts in STEREO which
  12. was  more  than  the power of the legal
  13. local radio in Jyvaskyla.
  14.   High   power   transmissions  started
  15. April 8th 1988 at 23.00 Finnish time in
  16. 95.5 MHz FM,in stereo.That transmission
  17. went  all right  and the  reception had
  18. been  good for long distances, too. RWR
  19. also  got pretty good publicity both in
  20. local and national medias. RWR appeared
  21. for the second time in  Commercial TV's
  22. 10 o'clock news,too. PTL and police had
  23. been in  Jyvaskyla  with 8 cars full of
  24. men and  a reward was promised to those
  25. who'd catch RWR in action.
  26.   Before  the  beginning  of broadcasts
  27. there  had  been lots of talk in medias
  28. about the  danger pirate radios present

  30. for   aircraft    and    other    radio
  31. communication.  After RWR started there
  32. was  nothing  like  that  in newspapers
  33. anymore. All noticed that RWR uses high
  34. quality  equipment,   for  example  the
  35. stereocoder  was  made  by a dutch pro-
  36. fessor of technique!
  37.   A week later RWR's story was close to
  38. its  end.  In  April  15th 1988 PTL and
  39. police   arrived   to   the   place  of
  40. transmission only two minutes after the
  41. end of the program. RWR-boys managed to
  42. run away, but some of the equipment was
  43. lost in the woods.  PTL  followed for a
  44. few kilometers but RWR ran faster.
  45.   Broadcasts were difficult to do since
  46. there was still some 70-100 cm  snow in
  47. forests.  Also the situation was really
  48. heating up,  because there were so many
  49. PLT  people  in town.  They had been on
  50. RWR's trail for almost  three years and
  51. now  it seemed  that they really wanted
  52. to  close  down  RWR.  That was why RWR
  53. decided  to  have  a little break after
  54. one  more  broadcast and wait until the
  55. snow disappeared.
