Transforms versus fieldings


Transform-type nodes and Camera nodes are quite similar: they can both take an input image, and make it appear to move, scale and rotate. So, what are the nodes intended for, and which type of node should you use when?

Moving images

We recommend that, when building your Scene Graph, you follow a model based on a traditional rostrum camera, where cels are placed on multiple pegbars on a single camera bed. A Scene Graph using this model should look similar to the one below:

Since the girl and the ball move together, they would share a pegbar on a rostrum camera, and so share a transform. Each other element of the drawing moves independently, and so each has its own transform.

[2] If you've used Animo 1.x, you might like to think of the Camera node and the Transform-type nodes in this version as being similar - respectively - to moving the camera pin and character pins used by earlier versions.
