Adjusting the Trace Layer values

When you adjust the Trace Layer values, you're altering how the scanned bitmap in the Trace Layer is displayed and output. You are aiming:

• To remove any unwanted dirt and blemishes from the bitmap[1].

Examine any areas which includes a lot of 'dirt' in the scan - that is, gray coloration which is not a line.

• To adjust the darkness of the lines so that they use the full tonal range, whilst preserving their original smoothness and quality.

This is most likely to be a problem where the scanned lines are light, as these have the minimum tonal range.
