New Spanish/English CD-ROM Promotes RE in Latin America
Free demo! http://solstice.crest.org/renewables/relac/index.html

CREST is proud to announce the release of a new Spanish/English CD-ROM, "Renewable Energy in Latin America and the Caribbean." The CD presents a multimedia look at ways renewable energy plays an important role in this rapidly-growing area. RE/LAC is an excellent tool for businesses, government officials, and educators who need an engaging overview of renewable energy potential, applications and uses.

RE/LAC contains over 600 screens of information, country profiles, and complete contact information (including emails) for all case studies. Both Spanish and English versions are included on the same CD, and the disc will work with both Windows-based PC and Macs (4 MB free RAM required). RE/LAC was funded by the US Agency for International Development, and sells for $20 USD, plus shipping.

A FREE PREVIEW is available online-- see the URL, above. For more information, contact dja@crest.org. To see free previews of all CREST software and to order any CREST product, see http://solstice.crest.org/orders/index.html For orders in the US call 1-800-346-0104, outside the US call +1-541-484-9353 or fax +1-541-484-1645.

Coming Soon!

In the next few months, CREST will be releasing several new titles and upgrades for our most popular software titles. Be sure to be on the lookout for:

SolarSizer version 1.0

SolarSizer is a sophisticated software program for designing residential photovoltaic systems. Developed by CREST staff members Eric Woods and Christopher Gronbeck, the program guides the user through the process of sizing a solar array in over 150 cities around the world. The user chooses appliances, solar panels, wiring, and components by dragging them into a "house," then selects city and other variables. SolarSizer then calculates the necessary cost, economic benefits, and equipment to power the chosen system.

SolarSizer was developed in a partnership with Solar Energy International, and is expected to sell for about US $150. The software is scheduled for release in April, 1997. For more information on SolarSizer, email solarsizer@crest.org.

The Sun's Joules Version 1.5

An upgrade of CREST's most popular software title is expected in Spring of 1997. The upgrade contains a completely re-designed interface, updated and new content, videos, and interactive exercises. It will also come bundled with an upgrade of The School Energy Doctor, all on the same CD! The new Joules/Energy Doctor CD is expected to sell for around US $30. Current owners of The Sun's Joules version 1.0 can upgrade at a discount-- details to follow. For more information, contact joules@crest.org.

The School Energy Doctor Version 1.07

As mentioned above, The School Energy Doctor will be available with The Sun's Joules on CD-ROM, but will continue to be available on two floppy diskettes. The new version is also expected in early April, 1997. Contact sed@crest.org.
