The Center for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technology (CREST), has established an enormously popular Internet site dedicated to renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable development called Solstice. Currently hundreds of thousands of files per month are delivered to visitors from over 50 different countries, and CREST would like your organization to join our growing list of information providers.

Internet Presence Pricing

Basic Hosting Services
CREST offers basic Internet presence services for $75/month with a $75 startup fee. This is ideal for individuals or small organizations with limited budgets. Included in the price is the following:

25 MB of disk space on our World Wide Web, Gopher, and FTP servers;
Use of our high-speed T-1 communications line;
An account on Solstice with which to maintain data and receive e-mail (which is forwarded to an account of the user's choice)
Monthly access statistics
'Virtual hosting' (http://www.your-name-here.com/) with optional internet domain name registration (registration fees billed separately)
A link from the Solstice web site
Nightly tape backups for data security

Professional Hosting Services
CREST offers professional level internet presence services for $150/month with a $150 startup fee. Designed for organizations who wish to more fully explore the growing opportunities online, this level offers the 'basic' features plus:

25 MB additional disk space (50 MB total)
Access to CGI (common gateway interface) for web page programming (C and Perl 5 available)
Access to Glimpse and Excite text indexing and searching mechanisms
Use of PHP and Apache Server-Side-Include extensions
Access to the MSQL-2 SQL database engine (Perl5 and PHP interfaces available)
Secure connections using the SSL protocol, allowing financial transactions and other on-line communications requiring privacy
Up to 10 electronic mail 'aliases' for your domain, forwarded to user accounts of your choice

Hourly Development Rates

You can author your own home pages, or have CREST designers and programmers do it for you. Contract work for CREST staff (scanning, converting text to HTML, marketing, and technical support) is billed at $50/hour

Other services, such as database, PDF, and catalog conversion, are also available. Please contact CREST for more details and a cost estimate.

Mailing Lists

CREST hosts electronic mailing lists for $600 per year. This includes a standard list, a digest option, monthly plain-text archives, and searchable monthly hypertext archives. Someone from your organization must be available to attend to list needs (e.g. adding and dropping list members) via email.
