when i get married i want a traditional wedding but also kinda different. I want it on the beach. I mean literally.
My husband and I had a big old Catholic wedding i
n a cathedral which felt pretty radical since all
my friends have had non-traditional weddings.
And yes, it rocked
When my husband and I got married last year, we opted
for non traditional. We're both atheists, so the thought of
a church wedding was definitely out. We are also fairly shy
and didn't want to stand in front of a sea of people.
We found out about the Universal Life Church from a friend,
found their web site and ordained our friend Gabby as a
minister over the Internet. She married us in a tiny ceremony
in the mountains. We hiked out to a pretty spot. Gabby
married us, her boyfriend, Jeff, was best man and my best
friend, Jill, was maid of honor. Her girlfriend video taped
the event, while Jill and Jeff took still photos. Dave wore
shorts and a sweater. I wore a yellow sundress and Skecher
hiking boots. It was beautiful. We went out for Thai food
afterwards.
Every traditional wedding I go to, I am so thankful that we
married the way we did.If fit our personalities perfectly.
I'd have to say traditional. I think it's cute how people have off-beat weddings. I'd like to be invited to one, but it's just not for me. I want to have a beautiful white dress and a husband-to-be in a sharp black and white tuxedo. I want all my friends and family invited with modern brides maid dresses and a giant reception. You can call me old fashioned, but I'm going to have my wedding the way I want it to be.
I don't know how I would wed, but I can tell you how
I want to be proposed to. I want "Marry Me Lily"
written in the sky by a tiny little airplane. That would
get me to say yes.
