He considered firearms to be an extension of his wardrobe and never went anywhere without a few miscellaneous weapons distributed about his person, frequently walking the streets of Paris at night with a carbine slung over his shoulder and two pistols stuck into his belt. One night a passerby with a cigarette walked up to him and asked for a light. "Voila,"Jarry replied, and blazed away with his revolver in the general direction of the poor guy's cigarette.
