Wild Flowers

Sometimes a simple family activity is all that is needed to keep our family ties strong. Rooting ourselves with family helps us connect better with everything in our world.

Family walking togetherYou can go for a long walk through undiscovered streets of your city, or plan a hike through a regional park, and enjoy the beauty of wild flowers and unusual plants. In these walks you may come close to creatures that inhabit this environment, or find trees that are hundreds of years old, whose height and width will leave you with a healthy sense of humility and wonder.

A shared learning experience enriches everyone. It develops and expands minds, heightens the senses, and creates a wonderful sense of curiosity. The memories of a family outing will remain with you long after the summer season ends. When I was a child, I remember going on a hike in the mountains with my parents. I kept hearing unfamiliar noises and became a little frightened, until my parents explained that it was just the wind rustling through the trees. I never realized that the wind had such a distinct sound, and even now, on windy days, I'm still listening, trying to catch the sound of the wind.
