![]() OVERVIEWImpact Online (IOL) is a nonprofit organization which uses the Web to connect volunteers with nonprofit organizations who need them. Potential volunteers can find out about volunteer opportunities and research nonprofits in their communities. At Impact Online's web site (http://www.impactonline.org), any nonprofit organization can create its own free web page and list immediate volunteer needs. Impact Online's Volunteer America is a program on the Internet which connects thousands of volunteers with nonprofits who need them. Whether it's building a house for Habitat for Humanity, organizing an arts and crafts fair for inner city children, or participating in an AIDS walk-a-thon, we are providing information on one-time opportunities which fit everyone's interests and schedules. We have launched San Francisco and Philadelphia, and will expand nationwide in 1997. VIRTUAL VOLUNTEERINGVirtual Volunteering is Impact Online's new program designed to encourage the development of volunteer activities which can be completed over the Internet. Our target audience includes busy professionals, such as accountants, attorneys and graphic designers, as well as homebound individuals. This program presents a unique opportunity for some individuals who might not otherwise be able to get involved. SUPPORTERSNational attention to Impact Online's efforts has attracted numerous donors including: America Online, Apple, Applied Materials, BroadVision, Hewlett-Packard, and National Semiconductor. First launched in November 1994, the site now welcomes approximately 20,000 visitors each month and is quickly becoming the first stop on the Internet for those who want to make a difference.
