Polly Arenberg Polly L. Arenberg    (polly@impactonline.org)
is founder and principal of The January Group, a marketing and strategy consulting firm that helps pioneering companies and companies attempting to pioneer. Clients include Levi Strauss & Co., Shorebank Corporation, Working Assets and The Tides Foundation. Ms. Arenberg's prior experience spans the private, political and nonprofit sectors, with specific expertise in new ventures and organizational entrepreneuring. She is the founder and co-president of the George Stephanopoulos Fan Club (publishers of the zine Stephanopouletter ), a board member of Alliance for Women Entrepreneurs and a member of Business for Social Responsibility. She is currently gathering and co-editing a collection of essays about the ordinary lives and politics of post-baby boomers. Ms. Arenberg holds a B.A. from Brown University and an MBA from Stanford University.


Jay Backstrand Jay Backstrand    (jay@impactonline.org)
is a marketing manager at Sun Laboratories for Sun Microsystems, Inc. He also worked as a consultant to Sun as the principal of NetDay96, a Web-based initiative which attracted more than 100,000 volunteers who wired 13,000 schools in California. Mr. Backstrand was responsible for corporate relations, PR and fundraising, and also co-authored the NetDay96 How-To Guide. Prior to Sun he was a consultant to the Commission of the European Union, responsible for drafting and negotiating legislation for the European Monitoring Center on Drugs and Drug Addiction. Mr. Backstrand also founded Volunteer America, a web site devoted to promoting volunteerism nationwide, which has now merged with Impact Online. He graduated with a B.A. in Political Science (1990) from Brown University and an M.A. in International Relations from The John Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (1995).


Cheryl Cole Dodwell Cheryl Cole Dodwell    (cherylcd@impactonline.org)
has served for the last three years as publisher and general manager of Who Cares, Inc., an entrepreneurial nonprofit organization which publishes the national magazine: Who Cares: The Magazine for People Who Do. Her prior work experience includes founding and directing the corporate volunteer program for The Fresh Air Fund, and positions as a corporate finance analyst and private banking account officer at J.P. Morgan. Ms. Dodwell serves on the Board of Directors of Who Cares, Inc., and is a founding board member of the MBA-Nonprofit Connection. She is a member of the AT&T Consumer Advisory Panel, and an advisor to Grist for the Mill Productions, a documentary film company based in New York City. Ms. Dodwell received a B.A. from Princeton in Economics and an MBA from Stanford, with a concentration in nonprofit management.


Scott Galloway Scott Galloway    (scott@impactonline.org)
is founder and principal of Prophet Market Research, Inc., a consumer marketing and research company in San Francisco. Prophet clients include The Gap, Apple Computer, Yamaha, Dreyer's Ice Cream and other leading consumer goods companies. Prophet and its innovative use of technology in conducting consumer research have been profiled in several publications including The San Francisco Chronicle and Inc. Magazine. Mr. Galloway's background includes positions in fixed income at Morgan Stanley and the market research department of Peter Norton Computing. He received a B.A. in Economics from UCLA and an MBA from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley.


Steve Glikbarg Steve Glikbarg    (steve@impactonline.org)
is a co-founder of Impact Online. Mr. Glikbarg was co-executive director of Impact Online during 1995, a critical year in the establishment of the organization. He is currently a project manager leading new web-based initiatives at Impact Online. His previous work experience includes publishing Who Cares, a national magazine on community service, and helping put the magazine Communication Arts online. In addition, he taught at the high school level in the Bay Area for three years. He is an MBA graduate from Stanford University, and holds an M.A. in Education and a B.A. in English from Stanford.


Andrea Grindeland Andrea Grindeland    (andrea@impactonline.org)
is founder and principal of Information Arts, Inc., a communications agency specializing in public relations and marketing communications. Information Arts clients include Pacific Telesis, Pacific Bell Information Services, IDG's Interactive Service Group, Cisco and TravelNet. Prior to starting Information Arts, Ms. Grindeland worked for White & Cromer Public Relations, a division of BBDO. While at that agency, she led the account services team for such prominent clients as Federal Express, Pacific Bell Connection and Tandem Computers.


Craig Jacoby Craig Jacoby    (craig@impactonline.org)
is the co-founder of Volunteer America, a program created to help volunteers use the World Wide Web to find non-profit organizations. VolunteerAmerica merged with Impact Online in 1996. Mr. Jacoby will be joining the law firm of Cooley Godward Castro Huddleson and Tatum next fall after a clerkship with a federal judge. He recently graduated Order of the Coif from Stanford Law School, where he helped them to develop their Web presence, and received an M.A. from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. Before that, he spent a year in Rome on a Fulbright Fellowship. He has published articles on the intellectual property rights of indigenous farming communities and on the postmodernism of Italian film director Silvio Soldini. He has a B.A. in English and Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.


Jennifer Gill Roberts Jennifer Gill Roberts    (jennifer@impactonline.org)
is a partner at Sevin Rosen Funds, a venture capital firm focusing on early stage information technology and biomedical projects. The firm was founded in 1981 and its most well known successes include Compaq Computer, Lotus Development, Cypress Semiconductor, Silicon Graphics, and Cyrix. Jennifer serves as a director of a number of Sevin Rosen companies including Metawave Communications, E/O Networks, and Diamond Lane Communications. Ms. Robert's prior experience includes over six years in hardware engineering at Hewlett-Packard and Sun Microsystems. She received a B.S. (electrical engineering) from Stanford University, an M.S. (electrical engineering) from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from Stanford University.

Ms. Robert's nonprofit experience includes the founding of The Alliance for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE), an organization dedicated to serving the business needs of women entrepreneurs in the Bay Area. She served on the Board of Directors for Innovative Housing from 1991-1995 and founded the Innovative Housing Santa Clara County Advisory Board in 1992. In addition, Ms. Roberts serves on the Advisory Board of the Community Foundation of Santa Clara County.


Cindy Shove Cindy Shove    (cindy@impactonline.org)
is executive director of Impact Online. She is a co-founder and the source for the original idea for Impact Online. Her career in the nonprofit sector started as a consultant to Bay Area nonprofits. Previous experience includes co-founding Avalon Technologies, a successful technology distribution company, manager of strategic planning at Ault Foods, a large consumer goods company in Toronto, and vice-president of sales at Independent Paper, another entrepreneurial company. She has a B.A. in Economics and Political Science (1982) from the University of Western Ontario and an MBA (1993) from the University of Toronto.


Cheryl Vedoe Cheryl Vedoe    (cheryl@impactonline.org)
is president and CEO of Tenth Planet. Founded in 1994, Tenth Planet is a multimedia curriculum company dedicated to helping teachers integrate technology into their classrooms in a way that motivates and engages students. Prior to joining Tenth Planet, Ms. Vedoe was vice president and general manager of the Apple USA education division. Before joining Apple, Ms. Vedoe was vice president and general manager of SunConnect, a business unit of Sun Microsystems, Inc., that specialized in networking technologies and products. A seasoned technology executive, Ms. Vedoe held several positions at Apollo Computer Inc., including director of the software development market group and director of workstation, server, and graphics marketing. She has also held product management and software engineering positions at Digital Equipment Corp. and was a programmer/analyst at New England Telephone Co. Ms. Vedoe holds an MBA from Northeastern University and a B.A. in Mathematics from Wheaton College.
