What Does Work?

There are many ways to prevent pregnancy. They include the pill, condoms, diaphragm, IUD, foam, suppositories, natural family planning and sponge.

Birth Control That Works!

There are several birth control methods. Below is a chart of how well the different methods work.

The number given is for people who use the method perfectly. If you do not use method perfectly or sometimes forget to use it the chance of getting pregnant is higher.

REMEMBER: Even during your period you must use birth control. You can get pregnant if you have sex during your period and don't use birth control.

If 100 women or girls have sex regularly for a year and use : How many will get pregnant:
The Pill 1 will get pregnant
Condoms 2 will get pregnant
Diaphragm 2 will get pregnant
IUD (Intra Uterine Device) 2 will get pregnant
Foam, suppositories 4 will get pregnant
Natural family planning 8 will get pregnant
Sponge 10 will get pregnant
Withdrawal (pulling out) 16 will get pregnant
No birth control 90 will get pregnant
