Diaper Cream

Diaper Cream

Look for one that has zinc oxide in it because that's the secret to most rash control. I prefer Tycod or BALMEX over Desitin because it spreads thinner and doesn't drag the skin along with it which means that the rash has a better chance of healing without you dislodging the delicate new skin by using sticky stuff on it. Also Balmex smells mild and is easy to wash off so it traps less stool in it and probably promotes faster recovery this way. TYCOD is great but nearly impossible to find (try Drug Guild Pharmacies) . It has all the advantages of Balmex but also has calamine in it which adds to the healing process by drying the rash. pMost diaper rashes that hang around for a day or two become "yeasty" so be sure to also have an antifungal cream around such as LOTRIMIN AF and use it every other diaper change to keep the candida in control.
