Technical Notes
I will be nailed into a pine box (b1) the length of my body. I will lie upon my back with a telephone (t1) in hand. Inside the box I will face a small video camera (v1) and computer monitor (cm1). The computer monitor is connected to the internet. The camera will project my image onto a video monitor (vm1) which will rest upon the top of my pine box thus detailing for passersby my interior actions.
A second and smaller pine box (b2) will rest approximately 20 feet away from box (b1) in which I rest. This second box (b2) will contain a one chicken, a telephone (t2), a video camera (v2), an answering machine (am1) and a computer monitor (cm2). The computer monitor(cm2) is also connected to the internet. The camera will project the chicken's image onto a video monitor (vm2) which will rest upon the top of its pine box (b2) thus detailing for passersby the chicken's interior actions.
Atop both monitors (vm1) and (vm2) will face one another and upon them will rest two additional video cameras (v1.1) and (v2.1). These cameras will be directed toward each opposite monitor. Camera (v1.1) will record and transmit the images displayed by the chicken's monitor (vm2) onto the internet via CU-SEEME software. Camera (v2.1) will record and transmit the images displayed by my monitor (vm1) onto the internet via CU-SEEME software.
Remote participants at PORT MIT and world wide will feast upon fried chicken dinners via four possible screens of interaction including IRC chat, a World Wide Web Site and live CU-SEEME video. Visitors to the actual physical space between the boxes (b1) and (b2) will be either purposely or inadvertently transmitted onto the internet.
Two large screens (s1) and (s2) will display all internet interactions opposite each end of the enclosed physical space. Screen (s1) will display multiple live windows of CU-SEEME interactions including myself, the chicken, and dinner guests. Screen (s2) will display all live text interactions from world wide participants who log onto the internet.
