Replacing most of the incandescents with CFLs nationwide could save more than
$5 billion per year and prevent the release of millions of tons of greenhouse gas
emissions and acid rain pollutants.
Maybe the real question is: How many light bulbs can a person change?
You now have a chance to find out what a difference you can make on your own.
The Back to School Program will take you through the steps to complete an energy
analysis of lighting
in your school, home, office, or any other building you choose. The lighting
survey will help you
determine the energy savings, cost savings, and pollution reduction possible
through switching from
incandescent lights to compact fluorescent lights. In addition, by completing the
survey and sending
it to the national databank, you can participate in an energy analysis to be
conducted throughout the
United States. Once a completed survey is received, each participant will be sent a certificate
signed by the Vice
President and the Secretary of Energy.
