PC PowerPlay

A MOD (caps for emphasis) is usually a single file which makes any number of user-alterations to a game in order to create a different experience. Basically, they have the ability to change a game into something else entirely by MODifying the games physics, weapons, environments and the like. Mods can range from just changing a few weapons to changing graphics and/or rules of play. For those who are unfamiliar with the popular acronym CTF it stands for Capture The Flag.

Below are a choice selection of some of the biggest and baddest mods ever built. Got a mod we don't know about? Let us know!

ModLife

For reasons beyond my control ModLife is not present either in the mag or on the DVD this month. Call it a brief hiatus, or label it a total screw up, the choice is yours. ;-)

International Online Soccer v1.0 [HL]

IOS is a first person online multiplayer soccer game that aims to be the online equivalent of great console soccer games but with a true multiplayer teamplay experience.

IOS can be played first or third person. However the controls have been developed with first person soccer in mind. Players can join public servers at any time and be placed on a team. IOS has computer controlled goal keepers on by default. IOS requires a full installation of HalfLife v1.1.1.0. or above to play, other than that it is free.
