This month's whitepapers are focussed on interface technologies that are used in desktop computers for interfacing internal and external peripherals. The whitepapers included here refer to technologies such as USB, FireWire and ATA.

USB
This acronym stands for Universal Serial Bus and is perhaps the most talked about bus architecture today. This whitepaper includes a range of information on USB 1.0 as well as the new standard, USB 2.0. Besides the technical aspects about these standards, it also explains the features and benefits of the USB and its effect on PC hardware as well as its benefits for PC users.
FireWire
FireWire is a high speed Input\Output data transfer architecture for connecting PCs to other PCs and peripherals such as digital cameras, scanners, hard disk drives and CD-writers. This whitepaper explains the key features and benefits of this technology.
Serial ATA
This is a term that is associated with storage interface. Unlike the conventional method of implementing IDE interfaces where transfer of data was effected in parallel, Serial ATA does this using a serial mode of data transfer.
ATA 100
This term is again associated with storage data interface. This is the next iteration to the already familiar ATA/66 interface and it supports maximum data transfer rated up to 100 MB per second. This whitepaper talks about the specification and technology overview of this particular interface.
