Travel through time with www.kamat.com

Take a walk through history with kamat.com and see India in all its splendour, past and present, through the photographic lens of another Indian.

Kamat.com is a family-owned and designed Web site, which takes the visitor on a tour through India of the past and present. The site consists largely of photographs taken by the head member of this family, Krishanand Kamat, during his travels through India. The site includes information on Indian history and mythology and even the freedom struggle, highlighting some of the major events in our history. Aside from this, it is the photographs that have been posted here that set this Web site apart. The photographs capture the very essence of India, its culture and tradition. These include photographs of sculptures from various Indian temples and shots depicting some of India's many festivals. Some pictures include interesting artistic depictions of Indian mythology. The site, however, isn't very systematically arranged. You will find scores of links in almost every page, each taking you to a different or related topic and, hence, you could find yourself sidetracked from your original search. At times you find more visual and pictorially dense information than textual information. All the same though, kamat.com is a good enough site for some insight into Indian history and also a glimpse at Indian culture and everyday life..
