Solder the wires onto the connectors for your LCD and alphanumeric keypad extremely carefully, as the connections are small and any bridged ones will render the entire device useless.

After you have soldered the wires, you will want to place the screen and keypad into its own breakout box.

A power inverter will convert the 12v DC current to a 230v AC one. The model we used for the player is 300w.

You will need a fuse inbetween your inverter and battery - if your inverter doesn't come with one, add your own 25-30w inline fuse.

When you select your motherboard, aim for one that uses as small a form factor as possible as this will make fitting components in the box much easier.

Take care to mount your hard disk vertically as it will resist shocks much better than if it were laying flat.

Mount the ATX power supply into the side of the 3U rack mount case - you can remove the cover for better heat dissipation.

After you have finished installing the hardware components, your 3U rack case should look something like this.

With connectors to the battery, and cables attached to the appropriate ports, this is ready to drop into a car.

... And again, but with the dust cover screwed into place.
