Video panel
The Video panel displays the content you are encoding. Depending on the type of content, you can customize the display to show just the pre-encoded content, the encoded content, or both. You cannot view pre-encoded content in the Input area when:
- You are capturing a screen.
- You are using the deinterlacing feature with .avi or .mpg files.
- You are using a Windows Media file with a .wmv or .asf extension as your input and it has the same properties as the output.
- You are using a video capture card that does not support the previewing of an image before it is encoded.
- You have chosen to store content to hard disk temporarily, and have chosen to capture to hard disk first, then encode. (However, the content will be displayed when you stop encoding.)
You cannot view encoded content in the Output area when:
- You are using a screen capture profile or uncompressed profile.
- You are using a Windows Media file with a .wmv or .asf extension as your input and it has the same properties as the output.
- You are using two-pass encoding and the encoder is on the first pass.
- You have chosen to store content to hard disk temporarily, and have chosen to capture to hard disk first, then encode. (However, the content will be displayed when you stop encoding.)
Notes
- The video shown in the Output area might look blockier than it does when played on Windows Media Player because the Player contains deblocking filters, which are not available in the Output area. The blockiness is normal and does not affect the quality of the encoded content.
- If you are encoding a video for multiple bit rates, you can check the quality of it at each bit rate by selecting the desired bit rate from the Preview box.
