General tab
The following options affect the appearance of the main window of the encoder. Many of the options are selected by default, but you can change them as necessary to suit your needs.
- Automatically show panels needed for the current session. Select to display panels in the main encoder window based on the selections you make when running New Session Wizard. Clear this check box if you want to use the View menu in the main encoder window to select the panels that are displayed.
- Resize main window when video is zoomed too large. Select to resize the main encoder window to accommodate enlarging the Input and Output displays. If you clear this check box, it may cause the displays to be partially obscured. This setting has no effect on the encoded size of the image.
Note
- Large input and output displays can negatively affect CPU performance during encoding.
- Minimize encoder window during screen capture. Select to minimize the encoder automatically when you are capturing a screen. For an encode-to-file session, restoring the encoder window pauses the encoder. For a broadcast session, encoding continues, even if you restore the encoder window.
- Warn before stopping encoding. Select to send a warning message each time you stop the encoder.
- Show New Session dialog box at startup. Select to display the dialog box when you start the encoder. The New Session dialog box offers you a choice of wizards or templates for assistance in setting up your session.
- Show Encoding Results dialog box when encoding stops. Select this check box to automatically display the Encoding Results dialog box when you have finished encoding. If you clear this check box, you can view results by clicking Encoding Results on the View menu.
- Show all tips. Click this button if you want tips to be displayed.
- Default video format. Select the video format (NTSC or PAL) you want to use when encoding. This option applies to the destination, video, and audio settings that appear on the Compression tab of the Properties panel.
