Performance tab

If you continually exceed the capabilities of your encoding computer while encoding, you can use the settings on this tab to ensure success with encoding. You can choose whether to place emphasis on better performance or on better quality for your content. A better quality setting corresponds to higher usage of the CPU power; a better performance setting corresponds to lower CPU usage. The settings apply to sessions that use the Windows Media Video 9 or Windows Media Video 8.1 codec.

It may be necessary to experiment with the settings to find the balance between quality and performance. Select the Use defaults check box if you want to return to the settings used by the codecs.

You can apply changes to all sessions or you can change settings for the current session only.
