Security
Select whether to use digital rights management to protect your content or embed a watermark in your content.
- Use DRM to protect content from unauthorized use. Select to protect your content with DRM. You must create a profile before you can use DRM.
- DRM profile. Click the DRM profile you want to use for the content you are encoding in this session. A DRM profile contains the key, key ID, URL to the licensing server, content ID, and other information necessary to encrypt your content. If you do not already have a profile or want to create one, click New. To remove an existing profile, click Delete. To edit the profile, click Edit. To use a profile that is located on another computer, click Import, and then type the path to the profile that you want to use. To share a profile with another computer, click Export, and then type the appropriate path.
- Key ID. The key ID is only displayed when you create a profile. You cannot edit this ID. The key ID is included in a header file that is attached to your encoded content. A player reads the header file, finds the key ID, and communicates it to the licensing server. If the licensing server recognizes the key ID, it then issues a license.
- Embed digital watermark. Select whether to apply a watermark to your audio stream, video stream, or both. A watermark embeds a digital fingerprint into a stream. This information can be decoded by various software tools to reveal information such as copyright, terms of use, and author. A watermark indicates the authenticity of the audio or video content. You must obtain and register a third-party plug-in in order to work with watermarks. For information about obtaining a watermark plug-in, see the Microsoft Web site.
- Configure. Click if the watermark plug-in you are using requires that you specify a configuration file.
