Each channel in FruityLoops contains one generator. The generator is a synthesizer that creates the actual melody. Generators are all bass lines, strings, kicks, snares, cymbals etc. FruityLoops comes with several built-in generators, and also supports third party plugin generators in VSTi and DXi format (see Fruity Wrapper's help), and its own generator plugin format.
