Internet Options is where all the background information is kept for Internet Explorer. It is easily accessible through the View menu in Internet Explorer or by double clicking on the Internet icon in the Control Panel.
General
Home Page – This is the web page that Internet Explorer Start with. You can set the current page that you are looking at, use the browsers default page (depends on where the browser was installed from) or use a blank page.
Temporary Internet Files – There are two options here.
By changing the "Check for newer versions of stored pages:" options you can customize how Internet Explorer uses the Temporary Internet Files folder.
The next section "Temporary Internet Files folder" you can adjust how much hard disk space is used for storing files. You can also view the files and move the folder to another location.
The four buttons at the bottom of the General screen (Colour etc), allow you to change the look and feel of Links, the standard font that the browser uses and the accessibility options.
Security
The security screen allows the user to modify what Internet Explorer will look at without authorisation from the user.

Connection
The connection screen is where Internet Explorer gets its information on how it connects to the Internet (very important). You can run through the connection wizard through the top option, but it is advisable to create a Dial-up Networking connection and set Internet Explorer use it by clicking next to "Connect to the Internet using a modem" and then pressing the "Settings" button.
Use the drop down menu to select the appropriate connection for dialling, and set the other options appropriately.
Programs
Through this screen the user can select which programs Internet Explorer will use for the functions mentioned. You can also tell Internet Explorer to check whether or not it is the default program for browsing the web.
Advanced
We won’t go through all of these settings individually, but these are all the advance usage options for Internet Explorer.
