Downloading Speeds

One of the most common complaints about the Internet is that it is too slow. As a web developer you should try to do as much as possible to alleviate this problem, such as by only using those graphics that you deem necessary, and then reduce the resolution and colour depth so that people using slower modems may get to download them before they give up and go somewhere else. You should try to avoid using video files wherever possible as these files are normally huge. If you have a long file, try to split it up so that people can download only what they need.
