Anchors

Anchors are used to name specific locations within a file so that when that page is opened using a link, the browser can automatically scroll down the page to that location. In a long file, this helps the user of the pages as they do not have to scroll down the page themselves looking for the appropriate piece of information.

You can create anchors using the Section Wizard, accessible through the Insert | Anchor... menu item. Simply place the cursor in the place where you want to create an anchor and open the Section Wizard. Type in the name you want to give to the anchor and click on OK. The tag for the anchor is now inserted and you can use the name for that anchor in links.

As well as using anchors in links from other pages, you can create a link to an anchor in the current page. Select the text to form the link as you would for a normal external link, and open the Local Jump Wizard using the Insert | Local Jump... menu item. The drop-down box in this wizard contains the names of all the anchors in the current page. Select the one you want to link to from this list, or type in your own. Click on OK to create the link.
