About Styles

A style is a predefined set of formatting options which is stored in the HTML file and is assigned a name. Text can then be assigned these formatting characteristics using only the name of the style. This not only makes it quicker to reproduce the same formatting on various sections of text, but if you want to change the formatting of all these sections, you only need to change the style once and the changes will automatically be reflected throughout the whole document.

You can either define your own styles, for example different heading styles or to highlight text in the same manner throughout a document, or you can use it to automatically assign every instance of a HTML element in the document certain properties. For example, you could create a style for links (element A) to place all links in bold, or to remove the default underlining of links.

You can use the Style Wizard to create and edit styles for you. You get to the Style Wizard through the Format | Style | Edit... menu item.
