Save to URL...

The "Save to URL..." command allows you to save non-local files to a specified URL (uniform resource locator) address.

To save an XML document to a URL address:
1.Make sure the file you want to save is active in the XML Spy main window.  
2.Select the menu option File | Save to URL  
3.Click the Browse button to see and navigate the directory structure of the server.  
4.Enter the file name in the URL field, or mark the file in the "Available files" list box, if you want to overwrite it.

The Browse function is only available on servers which support the following protocols:
·FTP  
·HTTP and HTTPS, if the server supports WebDAV  
·or servers supporting WebDAV  

Password protected servers
If the server you connect to is password protected, enter the required data and click the OK button to connect. You can also enter these data in the User and Password fields. The Save check box, supplies the password data for the logon attempt.

Repositories
Repositories supported by XML Spy come in three flavors:
·Generic version control systems, such as Microsoft Visual Source-Safe (or compatible products)  
·Generic web servers, such as FTP or WebDAV servers; and  
·Specialized XML or schema repositories, such as Tamino, TEXTML Server, Virtuoso, or XML Canon.  

XML Spy currently supports Source-Safe, FTP and WebDAV servers, as well as Virtuoso through WebDAV. Other repository interfaces will be available in future versions.
