Working with Images - Converting Images

If you have want to display an image in your web page, do not use the Windows Bitmap format, as invariably Netscape Navigator will not handle these images. You should also try to avoid using AVI files (Windows Movies) in your web page. The solution to both problems is to convert them into the nearly universal CompuServe Bitmap Format or GIF.

  • Open the Image Converter and read the instructions. Press "Next" to continue.
  • Click the "Browse" button to load either a Windows Bitmap or a Windows Movie File. When you have selected an image, click "Next" to proceed.
  • Choose an operation to perform from the options available, either BMP to GIF (for Bitmaps) or AVI to GIF (for Movies) and click on "Next".
  • Click the "Finish" button to begin the conversion process.
  • Choose the new "Start" button and your image will be converted.

When the wizard has finished converting your image, you will be prompted to save the image.
