Home Page Template Help
This form is a graphical representation of approximately what your home page will look like. To personalize the home page, type the information you want to appear on the home page in the appropriate spaces below. On your home page, only the text you type is visible. The labels and text boxes are not visible. Boxes or sections that are not used do not leave blank spaces on your home page. When you have finished adding information, click enter new changes.
Template Style
- To change the template style used for your home page, select one of the template options.
Guest Book and Drop Box Options
- To add a guest book or a drop box, select the appropriate option.
- To remove a guest book or a drop box, clear the appropriate option.
Add Links
- Type the complete address of resources you want to reach, such as http://www.microsoft.com.
- Type a brief description of the what the link goes to, such as The Microsoft Home Page. The description is what appears on your home page. If you do not add a description, the address appears as the link.
Enter a title for your home page
- Type a title for your page. The title appears at the top of the page and also in the title bar of the visitor’s browser.
- Titles are often returned in search results, so be sure to make your title both descriptive and unique.
Name
- Type your name as you want it to appear on your home page for contact information. The name is also used to personalize your guest book and drop box.
Email
- Type your email address so visitors to your site can send you email. Your email address appears on your home page as a link which automatically launches the visitor’s mail program when clicked.
- Be sure to include your complete email address, such as your_name@your_company.com.
Phone number
- Type your phone number, including appropriate hyphens between groups of digits.
- If your Web site is for internal use only, you may only need your extension number, such as 23481.
- If your Web site is reached externally, you may want to include your complete phone number, including any local or international dialing codes and your extension number.
Fax number
- Type your fax number, including appropriate hyphens between groups of digits.
- If your Web site is for internal use only, you may only need your extension number, such as 23481.
- If your Web site is reached externally, you may want to include your complete phone number, including any local or international dialing codes, and your extension number.
Department or division name
- Type the name of your department or division.
- If you don't have a department or division, you may want to substitute your company name, job title, or perhaps a company slogan.
Address
- Type your address in the next four boxes.
- Place each line of your address in a separate box so each line appears on a separate line on your home page.
Heading
- Type a heading or a subheading for the paragraph to follow.
- Headings appear in larger and darker text than the text used in the paragraph that follows the heading.
Paragraph
- Type a paragraph about yourself, your job, or your company.
- If you want more than one paragraph under this heading, use the next paragraph box, but do not use the accompanying heading box.
- If you want to type more than one paragraph under a heading or subheading without using the next paragraph box, you can type the HTML paragraph tag, <p>, at the start of a new paragraph. You can also use the HTML line break tag, <br>, to start a new line without starting a new paragraph.
- If you want to add an image to the page, place the image in the root directory and type <img src='filename'> in a heading or paragraph box, where filename is the name of the image you placed in the root directory. If you accepted the defaults during setup, your root directory is \Inetpub\Wwwroot.
