Netscape Mail & Communicator Messenger Configuration
This configuration sheet describes the setup of Netscape Mail on its initial startup after installation. You should have your TPG Internet Invoice or Voucher with you, which has your username & password, as well as other Setup Configuration details you will require.

Netscape Communicator Messenger Configuration

When you open Netscape Messenger for the first time a New Profile Setup will be initiated. Enter the following details:

  1. Enter Your Name or the name you wish to be displayed in the e-mail message. Your e-mail address will be your username in the following layout: username@tpg.com.au
  2. Select Next.
  3. EnterProfile. The profile is the name with which you use to define which e-mail account is currently operative. Use the default supplied.
  4. Select Next.
  5. Confirm the name you wish to use and that your e-mail address is set correctly. Enter the SMTP server or Outgoing Mail server (details on your TPG Internet invoice) eg. syd-mail.tpg.com.au
  6. Select Next.
  7. Enter your username as the Mail server username. Enter the Incoming Mail server (details on your TPG Internet invoice). This will be the same as the Outgoing address, eg. syd-mail.tpg.com.au. The incoming mail server is a POP3 Server.
  8. Select Next.
  9. Enter the News (NNTP) Server (details on your TPG Internet invoice). The News server is a standard address dnews.tpg.com.au
  10. Select Finish.
Netscape Mail Configuration (Netscape V.4 and Above)

  1. Open Netscape.
  2. Go to Edit and then Preferences.
  3. Under Categories you will see Mail and Groups option. Expand it out by Highlighting it and pressing on the Plus button on the number pad or clicking on the + with the left mouse button
  4. Select Identity. Fill in Your Name and Email address. Your e-mail address will be username@tpg.com.au.
  5. Select Mail server. Fill in Mail server username with your Username. Set the incoming and outgoing mail server (details on your TPG Internet invoice) eg. syd-mail.tpg.com.au. These will be identical to each other. The mail server type is POP3.
  6. Select Groups Server. Enter the News server (details on your TPG Internet invoice). This is a standard news server of dnews.tpg.com.au.
  7. Select OK and you are finished.
