56K Windows 95/98 Configuration |
We know you are eager to install your new software and begin exploring the Internet, but before you get started, please take a few minutes to read this short guide. It contains relevant information for a smooth installation and configuration of the software. You should have your TPG Internet Invoice or Voucher with you, which has your username & password, as well as other Setup Configuration details you will require. Sydney phone numbers have been used as an example please substitute with your nearest TPG location dial up number and area code.
Use your existing Modem Configuration when using the TPG 56K Digital Modem Service. In order to follow the instructions below please ensure that the modem is installed.
Step 1: Setup Instructions
- Double click My Computer icon
- Double click Dial-Up Networking icon (found in the My Computer icon)
- Double click on Make New Connection icon
- Type a name for the computer you are dialing TPG
- Then click on Configure
- Maximum speed 57600
- Click OK
- Click on Next
- Type in the area code 2 (Sydney Area Code)
- Then type the telephone number 8877 5555 (Sydney Value Pack Dial Up Number) or 9887 8800 (Sydney Premium Dial Up Number)
- Then chose the country code Australia 61
- Click Next
- Click on Finish (a TPG icon should appear next to make a new connection icon)
- Click the TPG icon with the right mouse button
- Select Properties then left click on Properties
- Click on the Server Types tab
- Check ONLY these options, under Advanced options, Enable Software Compression and under Allowed network protocols TCP/IP
- Click on OK you will return to the TPG icon
- If you double click the TPG icon, the connect to screen should appear
- Type in your username and password (Ensure that it is in lowercase)
- Tick the Save Password option
- Check that the number is correct
- Then click the connect button
- The system will verify your username and password and connect you to TPG 56K Digital Modem Service
