Special Instructions1 for Installing our Kit on Windows NT« 4.

These instructions are for installing Internet Explorer from the Telstra Big Pond Home Internet Access Kit onto a Windows NT 4.0 Workstation. Automatic installation is not possible for Windows NT.

All steps detailed below need to be performed with Administrator privileges. Refer to your Windows NT manual and on-line help for Dial-Up Networking if you have any problems while installing it.

Step 1. Install Dial-up Networking

If you do not have dial-up networking already installed on your PC then do the following:

1. Start the Dial-up Networking Installation by using the Icon My Computer on the desktop.
2. If the WindowsNT CD auto started when you inserted it into the drive, close the auto start screen.
3. When asked to add a new RAS device, do so by either selecting a modem from the list provided or adding a new modem.
4. Add the device.
5. Click on the continue button.
6. Add a networking protocol. You only need to select TCP/IP.
7. Click on the continue button again.
8. Restart the computer when asked.

If you have already installed it, make sure TCP/IP has been installed. The IP and DNS addresses will be obtained automatically.


Step 2. Creating the Signup Phone Book Entry

1.Click on the Dial-up Networking Icon again.
2.Add a new number to the phone book. You should call this entry BPsignup, Check the ‘I will be connecting to the Internet’ Box and enter a phone number of (outside line?,) 1-800-656-450.
3.Click on close, do not dial.
4.For later reference, the username and password for signup are signup and signup (when prompted).

Step 3. Installing IE3.02

1. Place the Big Pond Home Internet Access Kit CD in the CDROM drive. If Autostart is disabled, you can start the CD by running setup.exe from the top directory of the CD.
2. Install the features you want, restarting the PC when prompted and leaving the CD in the CD-ROM drive.

Step 4. Account Setup

1.Read all the information displayed in the account setup screen, specifically Configure this PC item. Write down the contents of the table containing DNS addresses etc found near the top of the configuration screen. Write down the phone number you plan to use from the table at the end of the configuration screen.
2. Go back to the setup screen and cancel the installation.
3. Start IE by using The Internet icon on the desktop.
4. If IE did not connect to the internet, connect to the internet by using the Dial-up icon, the signup phone book entry and the username/passwords of signup/signup.
5. Enter the URL http://139.134.5.37/newacct.htm
6. Fill in the registration form and then apply for a new account.
7. Write down the information returned when you account is successfully created (section 11.).
8. When completing your configuration (Section 12.) save the ins file returned to disk for later investigation. This file will contain the most recent information on account setup, including telephone numbers. NOTE: You may want to delete this file after everything is working because it contains your password!
9. Close/Exit from IE.
10. Close the dial-up session (right mouse click on dial-up icon near the time display on the start bar.)

Step 5. Creating the Logon Phone Book Entry

1. Repeat Step 2 (above). But create an entry titled "Big Pond" in the phone book with the telephone number you selected during signup. If you did not write it down the you can examine the ins file saved earlier.
2. Delete the BPsignup entry, you no longer need it. Do this by pressing the DEL key when the phone book entry is highlighted.

Step 6. Configuring MAIL and NEWS

1. Using the start button, start /programs/Internet Mail. Follow the setup wizard and enter the data you wrote down during Account Setup. Select the Big Pond phone book entry in the Dial-Up networking Connection drop down box.
2. Repeat for Internet News.
