About Information on PageLiner.
Quit Exit PageLiner.
This command opens a new window for a new text article. The insertion point will appear at the top left corner of the window so that you can enter text.
This command opens a saved text article so that you can continue working on it. The file must be in ASCII format. When you choose the Open command, a file requester will open to select a text file to open. After you click on OK in the file requester, PageLiner will load the article into a window.
Note: PageLiner 1.x saved text primarily in IFF DTXT format. PageLiner 2.0 is stripped down for extra speed, and only works with Amiga ASCII files. ASCII files created on other computers should be inserted into an open text window with the Insert command.
If you have IFF DTXT files created with PageLiner 1.0 that you want to edit in PageLiner 2.0, import them into PageStream and export them from it in ASCII format.
This command inserts a saved text article at the insertion point. Unlike the Open command, it does not open a new text window. The file must be in ASCII format. When you choose the Insert command, a file requester will open to select a text file to insert. After you click on OK in the file requester, PageLiner will load the text and insert it at the insertion point.
Note: Only text saved in ASCII format may be inserted.
These commands save the current text article. Use the Save command to save the article with its current filename and path. Use the Save As command to save the article with a new filename or path.
The Save As command opens a file requester to choose a filename and path. If you choose the Save command for an article that has not been saved previously, the command will have the same effect as the Save As command.
These commands save articles in ASCII format. Note that PageLiner saves ASCII files like a word processor and not a text editor. If you open the text in a text editor such as TurboText, each paragraph will be on one line.
This command is used to print the current text article to the printer specified with Preferences. PageLiner uses the Preferences printing system, so you must first choose a printer driver and set options with the Sys:Prefs/Printer utility.
This command closes the current text window without exiting PageLiner. If the text article has not been saved since it was last changed, an alert requester will open to confirm that you wish to close the window.
This command displays program information and describes how to contact Soft-Logik Publishing.
This command ends your current session of PageLiner. If you have not saved your articles before choosing this command, PageLiner will prompt you to save each unsaved document before quitting the program.
Undo Cancels the previous action.
Cut Removes the selected text to the clipboard.
Copy Copies the selected text to the clipboard.

of the text string.

If you accidentally cut, erase or paste text, you can undo the mistake by choosing the Undo command. You can redo what you have undone by choosing Undo again.
PageLiner allows only one level of undo, and you can only undo cutting, deleting and pasting.
This command moves the selected text to the clipboard so that it can be pasted into another position in the article, another article, or another program. Unlike the Copy command, the Cut command removes the original text. The previous contents of the clipboard will be replaced with the selected text.
This command copies the selected text to the clipboard so that it can be pasted into another position in the article, another article, or another program. The original text will not be changed, but the previous contents of the clipboard will be replaced with the selected text.
This command pastes the contents of the clipboard into the current article at the insertion point. If text is not stored in the clipboard, nothing will be pasted. You can paste text copied to the clipboard in PageLiner or PageStream, or any other Amiga clipboard compatible program.
This command deletes the selected text. Unlike the Cut command, the removed text is not stored in the clipboard and cannot be retrieved. You can also press the Del key to delete selected text.
This command selects the current word (the word in which the insertion point is placed).
This command selects the current paragraph (the pargraph in which the insertion point is placed).
This command selects all the text in the current text article window.
This command searches for, and optionally replaces, a text string with another text string.

This command searches for the next occurrence of the Find text string from the insertion point position. Use this command to continue searching for a text string after closing the Find/Replace requester. The search options specified in the requester will be observed when searching for the text string.
If PageLiner finds the text string in the article, it will highlight the text to indicate its position.
This command replaces this occurrence of the Find text string and attributes and searches for the next. Use this command to continue finding and replacing text after closing the Find/Replace link find} requester. The search options specified in the requester will be observed when searching for the text string.
This command checks the spelling of all text in the current article.

When the Show Invisibles command has a checkmark beside it in the menu, symbols will be shown for tabs, spaces and ends of paragraphs. The symbols to use can be set with the General command.
This command does not affect the text article or the way it will be print.
This command allows you to pick which colors to use for various parts of the PageLiner interface. The colors available are the basic four interface colors which are set with the Sys:Prefs/Palette utility.
When you choose the Colors command, the Color Preferences requester will open.
Paper Click to set the color for the background of the text window.
Text Click to set the color for text in the text window.
Margin Click to set the color for the margin lines.
Highlight Click to set the color used for highlighting text.
Slider Drag to choose the color for the selected part of the interface.
This command sets window and cursor defaults. When you choose the General command, the General Preferences requester will open.
Cursor Width Drag the slider to set the width of the insertion point
cursor in pixels.
Flash Rate Drag the slider to set the insertion point flash speed. Set this
to 0 to stop it from flashing.
Tab Spaces Drag the slider to set the width of tabs in spaces. Unlike PageStream,
PageLiner displays tabs like a text editor with tab stops in even increments.
Margin Sets the number of pixels to use as a border on the left and right
sides of the text window. Choose Auto from the cycle gadget to reflow text
to fit inside the text window whenever it is resized. Choose Fixed to set
how far text should run from the left margin. Enter a number into the right
text gadget when you choose Fixed. The Set option is similar to Fixed, but
sets it to match the current right margin. A Fixed margin type prevents
text from being reflowed when the window is resized and is useful only when
using PageLiner as a text editor.
Paragraph Enter the character to use for end of paragraph markers when the
Show Invisibles command is used.
Space Enter the character to use for spaces when the Show Invisibles command
is used.
Tab Enter the character to use for tabs when the Show Invisibles command
is used.
Window Enter the default window size and position in pixels. Enter -1 into
the Top text gadget to force the window to open immediately below the title
bar, regardless of the system font size.
This command sets the default directory paths for text files and the spelling dictionaries. When you choose the Paths command, the Path Preferences requester will open.
Text Enter the default directory for opening and saving text article
files.
Spell Enter the directory for the dictionary files. This should be usually
be set to SoftLogik:Engines.
Note that both of the path text gadgets has a Browse (?) gadget to its right. Click on this to open a file requester to choose the path, rather than typing it.
This command assigns text strings and external ARexx macros to the ten function keys. When you press a function key to which a text string is assigned, the text string will be inserted at the insertion point. When you press a function key to which an ARexx macro is assigned, the macro will be executed.
Cycle gadgets Choose ARexx to assign an external ARexx macro to a function
key. Choose Text to assign a text string to a function key.
Text gadgets Enter a text string or the name and path of an ARexx macro,
as appropriate.
Note that each of the text gadgets has a Browse (?) gadget to its right. Click on this when ARexx is selected from the related cycle gadget to open a file requester to select an ARexx macro, rather than typing its name and path.
This command opens a file requester to select a settings file to load. Loading a settings file replaces the current program settings with those in the settings file.
The PageLiner.prefs settings file is loaded automatically when you start PageLiner. It is created or modified by choosing the Save Settings command.
These commands save the current program settings to a preferences file. The Save Settings As command opens a file requester to enter a filename and path for the settings file. The Save Settings command saves the settings directly to the PageStream3:PageLiner.prefs file without opening a file requester. Saved preferences files can be opened later with the Load Settings command.
This command displays this help system.
If the PageLiner.prefs file exists in the same directory as PageLiner, startup options entered in the file will be used when PageLiner is started. A PageLiner preferences file should start with:
