PageStream allows you to apply attributes to objects to change the way they appear on screen and on paper. Attributes can be applied to single objects and to multiple selected objects. The attributes which you can apply to objects are line style and color, fill style and color, and text wrap.
You can apply object attributes with the Line & Fill and Text Wrap commands with the Eyedropper tool, and with styles.
The Eyedropper tool picks up attributes from one object and pastes them on another. You can paste the copied attributes as many times as you want, and you can pick up new attributes at any time.
1. Choose the Eyedropper tool from the toolbox.
The mouse pointer will change to an empty eyedropper shape.
2. Copy the object attributes.
Click on the object whose attributes you want to pick up. The mouse pointer will change to a full eyedropper shape. If you click on a text frame or text block, you will pick up the text attributes, not the object attributes.
3. Paste the object attributes.
Click on another object. All of the attributes will be applied to this object.
4. Continue as desired.
Continue clicking on objects to paste the same attributes. To copy different attributes, hold down Option (Alt or Shift) and click on another object. When Option (Alt or Shift) is held down, the mouse pointer will change to any empty eyedropper shape.
The Line & Fill command displays a dialog box to set object line, fill and color attributes. It is identical to the Text menu Line & Fill command for text attributes. Refer to Chapter 6: Line, Fill & Color, for more information.
You can wrap text around objects to prevent text from overwriting a graphic. PageStream offers you a choice of methods for wrapping text around graphics.
If you want the object to move with the text as the text is edited, you should anchor the object instead of wrapping text around it. Refer to Anchored Graphics for more information.
When there is more than one column on a page and an object with Wrap Method 4 is positioned in one of the columns, the baselines may not be aligned across the columns. Select Maintain Leading in the Leading dialog box to align baselines across columns.
To wrap text around an object: Select the object(s) with the Object tool. Choose Text Wrap from the Object menu to display the Text Wrap dialog box. Select Shape from the Wrap Around pop-up menu to wrap text around the outline of the selected object; select Bounding Box to wrap text around a rectangle enclosing the object. Enter horizontal and/or vertical text offset values, and select a text wrap method by clicking on an icon. Click on the left icon to turn off text wrap. Click on the right icon to flow text inside of a shape instead of outside it. Click OK.
Only text in frames is wrapped around objects; you can create text blocks for captions and they will not be affected by an object's text wrap. Objects placed below (or underneath) a frame in the stack order will not be wrapped around.
The Shape option in the Wrap Around pop-up menu wraps text around the subject of a bitmapped picture only if a clipping path exists for the picture. Refer to Masks for information on clipping paths.
